Her Life

The eldest of six children, Mrs. Denney was born February 16, 1912 in Toccoa, Georgia.  She was the daughter of the late Bascom and Sarah Lawrence. They moved to Habersham County, Georgia after all six of their children were born. 
 
    Mrs. Denney graduated from Tallulah Falls School. She went on to receive degrees from the University of Georgia, Emory University, and Auburn University.  She was a school teacher and librarian for a number of years.  In addition, she was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Franklin, Georgia. She was a devoted wife and mother who had a wonderful sense of humor.
 
    Mrs. Denney was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Louie E. Denney, Sr.,  as well as her three brothers, George, Bill, and J. B. Lawrence and one sister, Bessie Barron.  She is survived by a sister, Ruby Smith, in North Carolina. 
 
Other survivors 
include her four children, Donald Denney of Franklin, Georgia; Peggy (Jack) Muller of Lookout Mountain, Georgia; Deirdre (Bill) Tarr of Jefferson City, Tennessee, and Earl (Michelle) Denney of Maitland, Florida.  She has thirteen grandchildren:  Lawrence (Lisa) Denney, Hope (Sean) Kanter, Bill (Kate) Denney, Scott (Stacy) Muller, Elizabeth (Remo) Capecchi, Stephen (Courtney) Muller, Blake (Sarah) Tarr, Blane (Kelly) Tarr, Brady (Ryan) Tarr, Lauren Denney, Erin  Denney, Kerstin Denney, and Matthew Denney.
 
    In her later years, Mrs. Denney received much enjoyment from her fifteen great-grandchildren: Lily, Kate, and Abby Denney, Zoey Denney, Avery and Laney Muller, Brogan, Cullie, and Brynne Capecchi, Cade Tarr, Tara, Brant, and Tirza Tarr, and Tyler and Hudson Tarr.
