ForeverMissed

Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

Dearest Grandma Alaka,
I first met you in 2004 as Aunt Shola’s mom on my trip to Nigeria when my uncle brought me to your house. You were so sweet and welcoming. Little did I know that I had come home to my future husband relatives. When I came to Ikenne, you treated me as one of your daughters making my experience in Nigeria a memorable one. You welcomed and prayed for me that I would know the right direction to go. You showed love to those you met and made them feel welcome. Thank you for giving the King family a daughter as our “Olori”. You reared 6 beautiful and hardworking women. Your memories and legacy will always be remembered as a woman of faith who emulated Jesus. This is a shock, but I know you are in the presence of the Almighty. May your gentle soul continue to rest until Jesus comes. I love you and I’ll miss you. Praying for the family. 2 Corinthians 5.
Rest In Peace Ma.
With Love, your wife,
Enitan Okusanya

It is very hard to believe that Aunty Jolasun has gone home to be with the Lord just like that. She had always been kindhearted, peace-loving, humble, very accommodating and a role model to many of us. We can not easily forget her series of advice which have made our lives better. Her life has positively impacted many lives.
Our consolation is that she has fought the good fight, finished the race well and strong and also kept the faith. She is with her Lord resting peacefully.

It is a huge loss to the Pharmacy profession and she will be greatly missed. We will honour our memories of her to remember the woman who signed my Certificate of Experience and First license to practice as a Pharmacist. Farewell and sleep in the bosom of the Lord

Too shocking to here the story of her departure. She was registrar who added my name to the register of the pharmacist council of Nigeria, then a board in 1989 as a full pharmacist. A great leader just left the scene.

She is the kind who learnt and practiced Jesus teaching of the " law is made for man, not man for the law." Our terminal leave for completing the internship was when the NYSC orientation camp opened. We were referred to see her, she said, we have completed the internship training, gave directive for us to be registered so as to be able to proceed to the camp.

As a Roche distributor, my Fansidar and Supradyn sales was assured unless I didn't reach her of availability.

Sleep on beloved.

May the Lord God almighty comfort the family, amen.

Aunty Jolasun
My earliest memory of Aunty Jolasun was of this stern looking lady whose face always spoke louder than her words! Though I cannot remember her ever yelling, you always knew if she was cross with you.
I now have a deeper appreciation of why she had to be or seem so tough. Raising six girls to be six wonderful women requires steel, which my aunt had in spades. The fact that she did this whilst managing a successful career as a pharmacist makes it all the more impressive.
I most especially wish to thank her for the love she showed my family. Thirty-four years ago, she hosted my mum and 5 children for several months, when we were trying to find our feet whilst my father was suddenly placed in detention! This was a selfless task, which she took on with grace. Whilst we were at the Okusanya home, we were never made to feel different. I ascribe this to Aunty Jolasun and thank her for it.
Dearest Aunty Jolasun, we love you so dearly and you left a wonderful legacy. You will be sorely missed.

TRIBUTE TO MY GEM OF A SISTER, MRS JOLASUN OKUSANYA
It is very sad and painful to write this tribute but it is an opportunity to showcase a wonderful person. The last time I saw you was October 16th, 2018 when I bade you goodbye while returning to the US. My last words were the usual “Ki Oluwa ma ko atunri”, but it was not meant to be. You left on December 1st. Who am I to query these events in our lives ? I thank the Almighty for the pleasure and joy of knowing you for the past 48 years. I was one of your bride’s maids and I later became your sister in law. Over the years we developed a close friendship and sisterhood.
Sisi Jolasun, it is like a bad dream that your beautiful life was cut short !! You have enriched my life in very many ways. You turned me from a church going to a bible reading Christian in 1994. You did this through gentle persuasion and the way you lived your simple and God fearing life. Every time we spent together our conversations were always centered on living a Godly life. You were a true disciple of Christ. You practiced what you preached. You gave me a hard shoulder to lean on when the ill winds of life blew in my direction. It is easy to relate to you and to get good advice on how to handle tough issues. You will forever live in my heart and to live in the hearts of those who love you is not to die !
My dear sister, you were the biblical Ruth. You were a devoted wife to your heart-throb, Bros Sola. You took good care of him in sickness and in health with all your strength and skills. You understood his ways and you lived a happy married life. I was privileged to be around for your forty seventh wedding anniversary parlor party. You held unto Bros like you were newly wedded !! You were a loving mother, mother-in-law and grandmother. You supported your daughters through thick or thin, and by the Grace of the Almighty they blossomed into beautiful, smart and successful women. None of your children fell off your wagon. Praise God !! You always insisted they had to learn to cook and clean no matter how successful they got and by your example, they are building their own happy homes. Your grandchildren are very appreciative of all your efforts to make them happy as they grow up right. By all standards of measure, you were a GOLD star mum and grandmum.
Within the S.T.A Okusanya clan, you were the cream of the crop !! I cannot count the frequency and times we popped in on short notice to eat your delicious meals. You were always very warm and welcoming. You had the extraordinary inner beauty as you related very well to the extended family members with compassion and generosity. It came to you naturally and I always admired you for that.
My BIG sister and my friend, you did it your way and you did it well. You saw Jesus before you saw death. You finished strong ! I bid you goodbye and good night and I pray that I see you in the morning. I pray God to grant you my sister, a well-deserved eternal rest and may your good character live on in your children and grandchildren. Amen !
Love from your sister,
Mrs. Iretiola Okusanya

Mrs. Okusanya I met when I returned to Nigeria in 1984 as the Registrar of the Pharmacists Board of Nigeria, now Pharmacists Council of Nigeria.
When she found out that she knew my Father she took me on as her daughter even after she retired.
The news of her death through another Aunty was shocking as I had lost contact with her.
She was always a quiet and unassuming lady, with an ever ready smile!
Rest in peace ma, in the Bosom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Dear Aunty,
My heart breaks for everyone affected by your passing. I am still in disbelief that you were taken away from us by a senseless and selfish act but I rest assured that you are at peace. You have always served a role model for the Okusanya clan as a loving, selfless, determined and caring mother. I remember growing up and always feeling welcome in your home. Your presence will be sorely missed.

Dear Sister Jolasun, the news of your demise came to me as a very rude shock. There is no good time for a loved one to die but I know Christians don’t die but transit from Saints Militant to Saints Triumphant. I take solace in the fact that you have joined the Angelic Voices singing and dancing in heaven in the presence of your Lord and Saviour whom you served diligently while on earth and ready to receive your crown of righteousness. I will surely miss you, your disarming smile and words of encouragement. You and brother Sola are like my siblings from another parents, trusted friends and friends in need and indeed. May the Lord comfort your entire family especially your dear husband, Brother Sola, the children and grandchildren. Good night until we meet to part no more. Dr. Wunmi Ashiru

Dear Jolasun, that our association of over fifty years on this terrestrial just ended suddenly was too much to comprehend.

We love you beyond words and miss you beyond measure but are consoled that you are with the Saints Triumphant resting on the bosom of Abraham.
Rest in perfect peace.

Glory, Honour and Adoration to God Almighty for knowing you. I remember your signature on my Annual Licence as a Pharmacist. A woman with neat outlook, finness, disciplined and soft spoken with commanding steps. She always had a sweet radiant smile. The Lord will grant you eternal rest and let perpertual light shine upon your soul. Indeed a voice is still in the Pharmacy Profession. You will be dearly missed by every one. Your passing is a great shock to me, but I rest easy knowing you are in the hands of the lord. Thank you for all the great advice over the years. Thank you for always pushing for the whole Okusanya family to remain a close knit unit and encouraging a tight knit bond with my cousins. Thank you for all the nurturing over the years of Uncle Sola. I always knew walking into your home either in Ibadan, Gbagada or Alaka that I was welcome and I appreciate you more than you could ever know.  You will be missed Aunty Jolasun. Rest in Peace.
Your nephew,
