Early in life she was baptized and united in fellowship with Friendship #2 Baptist Church, LaFayette, AL. She was a 1955 graduate of LaFayette High School.
Her survivors include: one son, Gary Garrett, California, one daughter, Cynthia Marcus Story, Lanett, AL; four grandchildren, Rev. Karanja (Kendra) Story, Lanett, AL, Dr. Lakesha Story, Columbus, GA, Dr. Latesha (Montae) Story Walker, Birmingham, AL and Ka'la Story, Lanett, AL; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mattye (Elijah) Boykin and Ola Johnson both of Detroit, MI and Ruth Brooks, Virginia Beach, VA; and, a host of other loving relatives and friends.
