It is HARD to accept the death of a loved one; especially when you didn't have the chance to say goodbye; especially when the deceased was taken so suddenly and so shockingly at the prime of life and most especially when it seems like an irreplaceable part of your world is gone. The grief and the pain can be unbearable; you cry a river and your sorrow knows no end. You never really know what it's like until you are there yourself, but you look to God because he's the only one who can comfort you. Death and indeed a death so sudden and painful of mummy Omotuyi, makes me realize the brevity of life. We often take life for granted; too much so. Her death has made me sit down and reflect. It has made me take time to appreciate the loved ones in my life because I don't know what tomorrow will bring. It has made me put things in perspective. I want to live life and love it, I don't want to spend my life being unhappy or dissatisfied, I want to put a smile on my face because that's what can make a dark day seem bright and I want to play the game of life to the very end like that of mummy Omotuyi. So for those of you who can identify with me in grief, make it your aim to try and look past it and move on. Mummy Omotuyi is gone; we can not bring her back, but at least in memory of her, we can live a life that we know she would be proud of. Our loved ones may be dead and gone but we are privileged to still be living owe it to them to live fulfilling lives.

Dearly beloved Mummy Omotuyi,
You were an epitome of beauty and love that radiated from within. You were so gentle, easy going and so humble. You related well with both great and small. You were so accommodative... Oh! I missed a woman of virtue!
On one occasion, when I came to your office at Harvey rd, Yaba and it was hour of prayer (12noon), with smile you said: ''don't be annoyed o, will you join me to pray, because it's hr of prayer?'' With joy, I joined.
Another time, when I came to Abuja for a conference, you invited me to lodge in your house. We eat together and slept together on the same bed.
A woman of prayer! You will be greatly missed. But I know you are resting at the bossom of our Lord.
I pray that the good Lord will grant your family the fortitude to bear this loss.
Sleep on beloved, till we meet to part no more.

Mummy Funke, I still can not come to terms with your death, I believe angels can not die. You have fought a good fight, shame unto them that can kill the flesh. Your footprints on this noble profession which you served with all your might and for which your blood has been shed will forever hunt your killer(s) and their accomplice, May God grant you eternal rest as I know you are resting in the lord. Today is my 8th wedding anniversary but we lit a candle instead in your memory to commemorate the ascending into glory of a blessed daughter of Zion. Adiue noble soul, wonderful mother, and a professional par-excellence.

You were very upright and easy going woman. You have affected positively affected your generation. I can recollect allowing me to sit down with you in your office at 8 Harvey Road?Lagos. May your gentle soul rest in perfect peace and God will grant your family the power and strength and fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

Auntie Funke, the news of your death came as a rude shock. You were a loving and dutiful wife to Bro Wole. A gentle, amiable, industrious, virtuous, unassuming, faithful, peaceful and Godfearing woman. You left when you were needed most. But we are human. After all everyone will leave the stage someday, somehow. You are now with your creator. Rest in peace, one of the very best of Akususun's wives.

It saddened my heart on your painful exit. It is good to leave for God than to leave for men. It is obvious that u leaved a fulffiled life despite the fact that they felt caught your life short. Comments and commendations could attest to it, that you leaved a worthy life. I will miss you. Continue to rest in the bossom of our Lord Jesus Christ where we shall part no more. Adieu ! THE RIGHTEOUS WILL BE REMEMBERED FOREVER!

Mrs. Olufunke Folasade Gbonjubola Omotuyi,  your memory lingers on!
It is difficult to forget the very first day we met at The University of Ibadan in 1991 during your graduation ceremony. I was humbled by your gentleness, meekness, kindness and thoughtfulness! Since that encounter till you went to be with your Maker, each day with you was special at several family occasions and now became very unforgettable now that you have become "A Saint Triumphant" in The Lord!
It’s hard to express how I loved your soft voice, sincere smile, amazing laughter and your sweet tenderness. Your joyful, playful spirit was such a contagious one such that a minute in your presence attracts bursting into fun.
It’s heart breaking to realize you’re not within our reach any more. It is difficult to believe that your forthcoming 60th birthday celebration will not be real!
You were so amazing and beautiful in so many ways, even in death! Only your creator can explain why this was allowed, because He is the UNQUESTIONABLE GOD! We bow in awe of Him!
We are encouraged to carry the cross because the stings of death can not hold us captive, as Our Lord Jesus has won the battle for us in Victory by making a public show of death, saying "Death where is thy sting, Grave where is thy victory"
Although these days are difficult times without you, for your admirers and especially for your family members!  But this you should know, when the day comes to gather together in that heavenly home, a beautiful smile for the ages will be on all faces and we shall live happily together forever!!!!! Adieu, Mummy Bukky!
SLEEP ON BELOVED TILL THE RESSURECTION MORNING! !

Tributes added by omojowolo idowu Abiodun on 13th June, 2016.

When I saw you on the 13th of May at Uncle Sam Olanisebe"s burial, I never thought that would be the last time until we meet in heaven with Jesus Christ. Going down memory lane at school, in UCH and later as a colleague at State Hospital, Adeoyo, Ibadan, Oyo State, how gentle, humble and simple you could be, always with a smiling face. Even at your duty post in the council, you would take the pain to ask about the welfare of your old colleagues.

Can Funke harm an housefly? Then how come this dastardly act by the satanic agents? No wonder the scripture says "the love of money is the root of all evil". As the blood of Abel cried out to the Lord, so your blood will cry out against your dare devil assailants.

Funke, you had lived well and touched many lives positively. I know you loved your God, served him, lived in him and died in him. You will be missed by those who loved you.

May your soul rest in peace and put on an immortal/ resurrected body that will live forever with our lord Jesus Christ.

I commiserate with the widower, children and the entire Omotuyi and Adekanola families.

Good night, dear colleague.

Since I heard the news, It's been tough to believe that you are truly gone.
I have no doubt that you are now with Jesus because you were an Angel while with us. I admired your humane and humble nature from a distance. You took all the 'office palaver' with much strength and grace.
You are worthy of emulation; a symbol of womanhood, motherhood and professionalism.
May your family, AMLSN and MLSCN find strength to bear the vacuum your death has created.
Rest in perfect peace Mummy Olufunke Omotuyi.

Still can't believe you are gone, I was with you Tuesday night for Bible Study in the Church, only to wake up with the news of your demise. Your life was cut short by those who murdered you, it's so painful. You were such a humble, caring and peaceful Mother, a true example of a virtuous Woman (Proverbs 31). I pray that God Almighty will console your family and loved ones and give them the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss and for God to grant you eternal rest in His Bosom. God will surely avenge your death because He is the God of Justice. Adieu

Wonderful woman of God, who did not struggle for anything.
She is humble, and respectable to a fault. Every time, I am with her, she will always ask for my family and everything. I spoke to her on the phone on Monday and she discussed with me very well ,like her normal self. She was not in a hurry to respond to me on the phone even with her busy life, as the CEO. I keep asking myself why? Why? As if it is a dream. Virteous woman of God, love by everyone. Quite, meek and loving. My happiness is that you are in heaven, far from this useless world of hatred, wickedness. God will continue to be with with daddy and the children. Sleep well

It's a devastating puzzle that a harmless & innocent woman would be so brutally murdered. "Funkus" as some of us in our class of 1977/81 in UCH Ibadan fundly called her was an easy going, peace-loving, never complaining lady. She was a completely detribalised person as evidenced in her circle of friends in our days in Ibadan. She was the bridge-builder & peacemaker in our class. Whenever voices went high from political & ethnocentric arguments by those of us active in school & class politics, she often intervened in her usual characteristic charming & disarming way by calling, "GC-GC take it easy". She was loved and respected by all in our class. Her charming beauty & pleasant manners in those youthful student days made her a natural mediator every aggressive member of our class readily listened to in moments of conflict and anger. We were sixty in number in our class from all parts of Nigeria, fired with zeal and bubbling with ideals, determined to study and practice a great profession, medical laboratory science. Funkus, we are pained by your sudden & tragic death at a time destiny thrust on you the role of healing the wounds of a profession you cherished, loved and gave your life to. Your memory & legacy shall live on. May you find eternal rest in your creator. And may the Almighty God grant great grace & fortitude to your immediate family to overcome the pain of your sudden departure. Adieu Mrs. Funke Omotuyi.

You shall forever remain in our hearts.

May God in His Mercy grant u mama Olufunke Omotuyi eternal rest. Amen.

Death is a bad reaper, it plucks the unripe sparing the riped , it harvests the good sparing the bad. You represented the good plucked while at the prime. It was a great shock that left me dumbfounded for days before I could really break my silence as the events prior your sudden exit was unprecedented in our history. The time was trying but your equanimity in the face of pressure was evident to all leaving no clue that death was iminent. You are a brave woman while your assailants are cowards. I find it difficult to believe that you would be referred to in the past. I never met you but your legend went ahead of you and it is a common knowledge that you are a woman of great equanimity. While it pained me that you were close to breasting the tape after years of meritorious service to your country and your profession you love so much you were hunted down by wicked souls. I take solace in the fact that God would never have allowed it if not for a reason as the holy writ says " the righteous is taken before the evil day. Your memory shall remain sweet in our hearts. May the Lord bless all what you left behind- your family and legacy -.Sleep on beloved Mama. Adieu till we meet on the resurrection morning.

Ma, may your soul rest in peace. I did not know that your call to me last month to ask if I was related to one Adekoya whose file was on your table was the last of your voice I will hear. I remember having you as our Chem Path lecturer in the early nineties, you were so gentle, so willing to help even going out of your way several times - then you joined the MLSCN and even from there you were always ready to assist as many as you could, to say you couldn't hurt a fly is just saying it as it is- you really couldn't!
It really grieves my heart that you had to leave in such a gruesome manner- but I am encouraged by the scriptures- even Death does not separate us from Christ's love!!
Adieu ma- we trust God your children and loved ones will not be forsaken,God will watch over them. May your soul rest in perfect peace!!
