Mrs. Will "Billie" Zachary Batson Shields, 90, of Atlanta, died Saturday, June 4, 2011.
She was born in West Point on Tuesday, March 8, 1921, the daughter of the late
Nora Viola and John Thomas Batson.

She graduated from West Point High School in West Point and soon afterward, she
fell in love with a Fort Benning soldier, Nathan Babcock Shields from Norwich,Conn.
They married, and he was deployed to the Philippines during WWII. Upon his return
they made their home in Atlanta.

Mrs. Shields was preceded in death by her husband, Nathan, in 1972. She is survived
by her loving children, Cynthia Shields Mullen, husband Dave and children Nathan,
David, John and Katie, of Denver, Colo.; Kathy Shields Watson and husband Bob of
Atlanta; Stephan Babcock Shields, wife Cissy and children Brittany and Stephan of
Dallas, Ga.; a sister, Susan Batson Huguley of West Point and a sister in-law, Ann
Oliver Batson of Lanett; along with many wonderful nieces and nephews.

The family will greet friends Wednesday morning, June 8th at 10 a.m. with a memorial
service following at 11 a.m. The Rev. Mark McGee will officiate. In lieu of flowers the
family asks that memorials be made to Emory Hospital, Vista Care Hospice,1364
Clifton Road, Unit 5G, Atlanta, Ga. 30322. She will be missed so much by all of her
family, friends and neighbors.
