Her Life

Birth and Early Childhood

July 21, 2021
Mrs. Margaret Folake Mojisola Oyefeko nee Akintobi was born on 26th July 1935 in Owu Quarters of Abeokuta, now in Abeokuta North Local Government, Abeokuta, Ogun State of Nigeria. Her Parents were Pa Chief Emmanuel Awolola Akintobi and Madam Marian Akintobi both of blessed memory. The parents were Christians of Baptist denomination.

For her Primary School education, little Mojisola attended Owu Baptist Day School from January 1943 to December 1952. In her days, the criterion for admitting a child into Primary School was by asking the child to stretch his/her right hand over the head to touch the left ear. If the hand didn't reach the other ear, the child was referred to as not being old enough to start school. Usually, the Primary School education lasted for 8 years.

In 1953, she was admitted to Baptist Girls School, Idi-Aba, Abeokuta. This was a Preparatory School for those who would eventually enter the prestigious Baptist Women Teacher Training College. She successfully completed this course in 1957.

However in 1958, instead of going for the Teacher Training course, she had the privilege of travelling abroad to the United Kingdom for further studies .On arrival in the U.K., she enrolled for a two-year course in Nursing at St Helen's Hospital School of Nursing, Manchester, England from 1958 to 1960.

Spiritual Life and Ministry

July 21, 2021
Our mother was brought up to know the Lord from her youth by her Parents and by the strict Christian training that the Baptist faithful inculcate in their children. She gave her life to Christ later and was baptised by immersion.  She is blessed with spiritual gifts which she has used to the fullest by engaging in several Christian activities.

She joined Yaba Baptist Church, Sabo sometime in 1969 and remained an active member of the church until her death. She was a member of the Ladies Crusaders and was the President at a time.  She was also a member of the  Womens Missionary Union and participated actively in the Lunch Hour Fellowship. Mummy also joined the Women's Wing of Christian Association of Nigeria (WOWICAN) and became the Chairperson of the Lagos Mainland Wing.

Mummy was dedicated to prayer and Bible study.  She also enjoyed reading several Christian books.  She was a good Counsellor and was full of wisdom. She lived with the fear of God and was good at encouraging those with challenges. She was actively involved serving in the Lord’s vineyard right up to her transition.

As a mother, she was strict with the training of all her children and wards.  She was firm, dependable, progressive and proactive.  As a mother she was a disciplinarian, although she was very loving and generous and would go to any length to support her children and grandchildren.

She also enjoyed attending social functions particularly whenever her Christian brethren and family were involved.  She was a good dresser and despite her age, she always ensured that she was well dressed and neat at all times.  She loved her family and friends dearly.

Conclusion

July 21, 2021
We thank God for her passage, without stress to herself and her family. Even though it was sudden she did not suffer and that is what she had longed for. She will be cherished and remembered always.

We are confident that as a believer in Christ she is resting in peace with the Lord. ”She has fought the good fight, she has finished her race, she kept the faith till the very end” {2nd Timothy 4:7 paraphrased}. She will be cherished and remembered always.
