Tribute

October 22, 2023
Your departure was a loss for the Obe's family. I fondly remember when I was in primary 2 and used to skip school. You would scold me and ensure that I went, even going as far as reporting me to the headmaster. That single act transformed my life for the better, and I will never take it for granted.
In our early years, you brought us up as one family in a large compound. Your presence will be greatly missed by all, especially your son. May your soul rest in peace, Our Big Aunt Labake

Tribute to my dear Auntie .
I could remember when I was in primary school she came to Ayede Ogbese for a usual visit to checking on families from Owo Town where she practiced as a medical practitioner . She came around to visit my mum aka “aunt mi as she normally called her” fortunately for me and unfortunately for that moment I was holding a book which I was pretending to read and her attention was drawn to me and she asked me to read aloud to her surprise I couldn’t read nor write fluently as at then despite the fact that I was in primary 5 she felt so disappointed and on that spot she sought the consents of my parents to take me with her to Owo town where she lives and worked and the approval was the quickest decision I have ever seen or heard of up till date. Getting to know I couldn’t read and write the same routine was repeated for sister fisayo “aka small mummy and Niran Obe and to her surprise we were slightly different from one another, while sister fisayo was chairman equivalent of OLODO I was equivalent of Governor while Niran was presido of OLODO RABATA. She decided to relocate all of us to Owo town and in a null shall that was a turning point in our lives she got us all enrolled in then Government school Owo which in all honesty was one of the best primary schools in Owo  if not in Ondo state at large. The standard of education and the city live we were exposed to in Owo town put us right ahead of our pears in the village.  She will always pay more attention to me for a reason best known to her and she will take my side in 99.9% of time when stubborn NIiran OLODO PRESIDENT come near me with his troubles .  I could remember I had terrible skin sensitivity which always led to terrible skin reactions when ever I came in contact with un hygienic environment or diry water and that was adequately dealt with due to her profession “ I remember her then  jokingly saying I was lucky to be human that if I was an animal no one would be willing to eat from my meat, that was how terrible my  skin reactions was and she relentlessly made sure she got the right treatment for me till I was free from the skin problems. It will take me for ever to mention her positive impact in my life. I will forever be grateful my auntie continues to rest in peace till we meet again and part no more.

In loving memory of my guardian angel.

Today, as I reflect upon the beautiful life you lived, I am reminded of a remarkable moment that I will treasure with me forever . 38 years ago, when the world eagerly awaited my first cries, it was you who made the selfless choice to stay with my pregnant mother instead of attending your uncle's graduation.

I may not have cried in those first few minutes on Earth, but you cried tears of love and sacrifice all to ensure my safe arrival. Your unwavering commitment to both my mother and me at that crucial moment is a testament to the extraordinary person you were.

You embraced the role of protector and nurturer, showing the depth of your love and devotion to  the family.  Not just by being present on that fateful day but by being a constant source of support and Love thereafter.

Your absence leaves an irreplaceable void in the lives of people around you and most especially in the neighborhood, but the memory and the selfless love you bestowed upon them will forever be a guiding light.  Your legacy in their heart,  is a testament to the extraordinary woman you were. Thank you for choosing love and family, for being there when they needed you most.

Rest in peace, dear aunt. Your love and sacrifice will live on in our hearts, and we will forever be grateful for the life you helped bring into this world.
