Her Life
December 31, 2015

Ms. Mary Lee Spence was the only child of the late Albert Whittaker and Willie Lee Spence. She was born on January 22, 1932 in Troup County Georgia. She departed her earthly home on December 25, 2015. She was known to friends as “Mae Lee” and affectionately known to her family as “Mo”.

At an early age she accepted Christ and joined the Mt. Nebo Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend B. C. Carter. She received her formal education in the West Point School System.

Mary was a loving, gentle, and kind person and always brightened your day with a warm and friendly smile. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. In failing health, Mary enjoyed singing church hymns. Her favorite song was “Can’t Nobody Do Me Like Jesus”.

Mary leaves a presence that can never be erased, to include a legacy of five generations. She was the mother of nine, five sons and four daughters. She was preceded in death by three sons, Billy Hardnett, Leroy McCullough and Eddie Roy Todd, one grandson, and one great-granddaughter.

Her memories will be cherished by her two sons, Andrew Spence (Shirley Ann) West Point GA, and Henry Todd, Fort Washington, MD, four daughters, Theresa (Phillip) Todd, West Point GA, Geraldine (Jill) Jones, West Point, GA, Laverne Spence, Brooklyn NY, and Karen Spence, Cleveland OH. Mary had twenty-seven grandchildren, thirty-six great-grandchildren and one great- great-grandchild. She will be deeply missed by all her friends and family.
