Ruby Lee Jones was born on May 10, 1922 in Salem, Alabama to McKinley and Cornelia Nelloms Jones. At an early age, she joined St. Stephens Christian Methodist Episcopal Church in Valley, AL. She acquired her education at the Flint Hill School in Salem. Ms. Jones retired after many years of employment with West Point Pepperell at Fairfax Mill in Valley.

Her true passion was always cooking. She had a loving heart and helped to rear many children. They all called her “Aunt Ruby”. She was a dedicated member of St. Stephens CME Church and served diligently as an Usher, Stewardess and Missionary.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; her sisters, Hazel Lee Finch and Clatty L. Harris; and, her son, McKinley “M.C.” Jones. Ruby Lee Jones departed this life on Monday, June 6, 2016 at the home of her devoted and caring daughter and son-in-law in Salem.

She leaves to cherish her memories: her loving daughter, Virginia Jones (Larry) Dixon, Salem, AL; five grandchildren, Stanley Jones, Columbus, GA, Desiree Harris, Salem, AL, Priscilla (Timothy) McCoy, Stafford, VA, Sorrento Jones and Deon (Belinda) Jones both of Detroit, MI; 19 great-grandchildren; 20 great-great-grandchildren; a special devoted great-niece, Melanie (Willie) Williams, Opelika, AL; a loving daughter-in-law, Lettie Mae Jones, Detroit, MI; and, a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends.
