Các con rất may
NAM MÔ A DI ĐÀ PHẬT
---------------------------------------------------
To My Sweet Mom
They often say
As a mother, you take on many responsibilities
and not just to love your children unconditionally
Today
I stand here and pray
For my mother’s soul
For a mother who has given much sacrifice
And endured so many hardships throughout her life
But because of her quick thinking and wit
Today her children and grandchildren exist
Mom,
My siblings and I are so blessed
That you have always
Been our guide
Often reminding all of us
To lead a life of integrity
To be open
And not be lazy
To always try our best
All that advice, I will never forget
When I think of you
The big and small things come to mind
When I was 10
You’d pack my daily lunch meal
If you included an orange, you’d score it so I could easily peel
When I turned 20
and about to graduate from the university
You and dad were so happy
Your little girl
was about to enter the real world
You reminded me that whatever job I pursue
“Don’t ever shirk,
Always do an honest day’s work”
That year, you and dad put a down payment for us on a new home
not so far from you,
5 of your single kids all under one roof!
The house was like a mother’s nest
It was so close, that you’d often come over to check and inspect!
When I turned 30, I worked during the day and went to graduate school at night
You’d pack me a daily meal consisting of rice, soup and a stir fry
I often would come home late
and there, your home-cooked dinner would await.
When I turned 40, I got married
And soon after that we were blessed with our 2 precious girls
You loved the girls with all your heart
Often asking us to bring them over and not wanting to part
Instead of rice, soup and a stir fry,
You’d spoil the girls and would always offer them a sweet treat.
Steve and I bought our fixer-upper house
You asked me and the girls to come live with you, including my own spouse
While we waited on the contractors to give us the clear
We stayed with you and dad for nearly a year.
When I was about to buy a new car,
You encouraged dad to give me his spare car,
You said to me,
“Save your money so you can take care of your girls”
This year, I’m almost 50
How could I possibly
Smile and be happy?
All my life, you were my hero
Dad and all my siblings miss you so deeply
I have shared just my own story
But I know my siblings each have their own stories
of your sacrifices for them too
You have never thought of just yourself—a true virtue.
We will never forget you mom
You will forever be in our hearts
Your story is so extraordinary
It’s now your time to move on
I pray that you will make it to nirvana
where you will be with the Buddha.
