Haing S. Ngor was able to survive the killing fields of Cambodia and bring awareness to the world about the genocide that took place in his home country. Ngor was a doctor from a wealthy family before the Khmer Rouge took over Cambodia, where he had to hide his identity to stay alive. When he emigrated to the United States, he was an Oscar winning actor in "The Killing Fields."
