A Time To Be Born
Myron Quintin Jackson, the second child of the late James Aaron Jackson, Sr. and Christine Huguley Jackson Billings was born October 27, 1939, in West Point, GA. One sibling preceded him in death, Mr. Frank Anthony Billings.

A Time To Study
Myron attended Tenth Street Elementary School and graduated from Harrison High School, both located in West Point, Georgia. As a young man in the summer of 1956 and 1957, he journeyed to Simsbury, Connecticut to work on Cullman Brothers Tobacco farm to finance his schooling. He returned back south where he studied and apprenticed to be a mortician at Thornton’s Mortuary, Atlanta, Georgia. Later, he decided to attend Fitch’s Barber College, where he earned his Master Barber Certification.

A Time To Work
Myron returned to West Point, GA where he worked a few years at Palmer’s Barber Shop and also gained employment with West Point Pepperell. Three years later, Myron opened his very own business, Jackson’s Barber Shop, located at 715 2nd Ave. in downtown, West Point. Along with his own business, he continued to work for West Point Pepperell over twenty five years as a mail porter. He not only took pride in owning and operating Jackson’s Barber Shop for over 40 years, but truly relished the friends he made during his time in business.

A Time To Serve
Myron accepted Christ at an early age and joined Bethlehem Baptist Church under Pastor J.R. Lovett. While at Bethlehem, Myron served as chairman & trustee of the deacon board. He later was added in worship with his family at North Thirteenth Ave. Church of Christ in Lanett, AL under Bro. Robert Ellison. Recently, he confessed his desire to return his membership to Bethlehem Baptist Church under Pastor W.T. Edmondson.
Myron served his community and loved being a voice for fair and just treatment of all. He was an active member of the NAACP for many years and also served on The Bi-Racial Committee. He attended city council meetings faithfully where he fought for the celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday, the renaming of City Limits Street to MLK Jr. Drive and traffic lights for safety of pedestrians on 10th Street.
Myron was a member of the Beauty Culture League.

A Time To Love
Myron found his soul mate and partner for life at the age of 22, when he married Shirley Roberts of Lanett, AL on September 29, 1963. To this union two daughters were born. Shirley was the love of his life. They were married for almost 53 years. In the last years of his life, as his health declined, Shirley was by his side through it all.
