Hearing about Ustadh Naim’s return to God in such a sudden manner brought me deep sorrow. On reflection we all pray for a good ending, without long term suffering and being dependent on others for care, to depart in a blessed moment. Alhamdulillah Ustadh became of the elect, having been taken at a moment when he was fulfilling his duty to family and community, in the blessed month of fasting (Ramadan). For this we offer thanks and praise to our Lord.
In my interactions with Ustadh he disposed a calm, committed thoughtfulness to service to others. He sought to make matters easy for others even if it brought him hardship. Ustadh delighted many with his drumming (darbuka) skills. In these moments he hardly ever manifested outwardly the joy being experienced inwardly being focused on ensuring the beats being produced by his skilled hands are keeping the required rhythm.  In the end with a job well done you could detect a bit of a smile.
May Allah receive him with a grand reception, overlook his shortcomings and save him from the hardship in the afterlife, secure him with those predeceased loved ones. May he and us be raised up in the ummah of Prophet Muhammad (saws), may God grant our beloved Prophet (saws) permission to intercede and plea for his ummah for God’s mercy. May God accept it and grant Ustadh and us eternal bliss among the righteous souls. Ameen
Our condolences to all his loved ones, the loss is temporary, we look forward to a grand reunion.

I would like to say to Ustadh Naim's wife that she must be proud that her husband touched the lives of so many. That true love lives forever even beyond the grave. Her husband has moved to a different dimension but his love will abide in her heart forever. Few events in life are as painful as losing a partner and that she should give herself as much time and compassion as she would a friend in the same position and to remember that there is no time limit on grief. Through my prayers I am sending her comfort, courage and love to help soothe her heart x

My Dear Brother Naim, rest in peace my friend, I am lost for words as I feel I could write a book about you and our sweet experiences we shared, our laughs, our complicity when whilst on stage together competing through our drumming and always with a smile.
SubhanAllah, it still feels unreal but Allah has wanted you back to HIM in this blessed month of Ramadan and that proves what kind of man you are, a man of Allah. Alhamdulilah you are a Shaheed inchaAllah and inchaAllah your destiny in the Akhira can only be paradise of the highest level, please remember us when you come and see you in the world of the unseen.
Ya Allah bless Ustadh Naim and give patience and strength to his family on this difficult time.
You will be missed and our prayers will be always with us, Allahi Rahmek . El Fatiha. Amin.

Dear Ustaad
I know for certain that we never lose the people we love, even to death. They continue to participate in every act, thought and decision we make. Their love leaves an indelible imprint in our memories. We find comfort in knowing that our lives have been enriched by having shared your love.
You are leaving behind a legacy of people who have benefited from you over the years in personal and professional capacities.
You have left a gap here in this world and are filling a gap in the hereafter where we will meet again. May Allah almighty grant you a safe journey back to him and in the presence of our beloved Muhammad (saw)
Miss you always

Ustad Naim, may Allah bless him and shower him with an abundance of His Rahmat , may He wrap Ustad in His love and dress him with His precious gifts and accept him to be amongst those that are close to Him.

I have enjoyed Ustads company and always felt more enriched for sharing those brief moments. He has always been the calm voice of sincerity and thought. He had tremendous faith and love for Allah and His prophet , Muhammad, peace and blessings upon him. May Allah reward him and forgive him for any transgressions , errors or mistakes.

Ustad was an inspiration and wanted people to be happy and invited all people to be so through devotion, through song and through living life in a joyful , sincere way and reminding us of being grateful to the One who gives us life.
He had a warm, friendly and generous demeanor always ready to give to anyone that needed help, may his generosity be repaid many fold .

He was a family man and worked tirelessly to nurture and provide for them in all 'jize' ways , may Allah make it easy for them and give peace in this difficult time.

He was talented in many ways , but his search for the Truth ,for Allah to be pleased with him , inherited him knowledge that was a joy to delve into, explore , question and learn from, may Allah be pleased with him.

AAR will miss this man , this brother of beauty , know that he has enriched many lives , touched many hearts - of which mine is but one.

Ya Allah grant him closeness

Al Fathiah ...

His Life

Late\ Naim Ismail (1968 - 2018)

June 9, 2018

He was born on the 6th July 1968 in Aden, Yemen to a big family consisting of 7 brothers and 5 sisters.  He had a hard childhood living in a poor environment especially after the independence of South Yemen from the British rolling days.  During his childhood he had to work in a spice market with Alqusais along with one of his brothers.  Also, he was an active student during his primary and secondary school.  Playing different music instruments such as the keyboard and many others.  Learnt Quran from his beloved late mother who passed away on the 8th April 2012.  Finished his studies in Aden and went Sanaa looking for a job.

In 1990, after completing his military service (which he participated in after secondary school), Naim and his sister moved to Sana'a to study at university, however unfortunately he couldn't obtain a position at university.  Yet, in order to support his sister financially he worked in a factory there.  Shortly after, his sister got engaged and so they moved back to Aden for her marriage.  At this time, Naim expressed his interest in aviation and wished to pursue a career as a pilot.

In 1991, he travelled with his parents and brother to Birmingham where his 2 sisters lived and settled down there ever since. He got married and started working and studying at Joseph Chamberlain College at the same time.  Faced many difficulties, but stood strong facing them till he became one of the founders of the Arabic Language League in UK and kept teaching Arabic language to foreigners for a long time.  He has 4 children, 2 boys and 2 girls.  He taught at Al-Hijrah School as an Arabic teacher for many years and also taught at Park View School for a short period.

About 4 years ago, he went to work in UAE as a teacher and he has become loved by all, another loving family he made.

Naim was very loving, caring, kind-hearted, funny, generous, responsible, helpful and the list could go on. He built so much love and respect by all age groups that his loss is a massive regret to all.  He truly was an amazing person, father, husband, son, brother, uncle, teacher and friend.

A charm and a smile

July 6, 2023
We worked together for many years, he was a dear friend, a charming individual who was a diligent hard worker, he'd secured through through that charm of his (and unquestionably his talent too) at least three different teaching jobs in different schools and colleges at the same time.

I'd often walk into the class to find brother Naim in pensive thought, he would be a million miles away in his thoughts, stood with one foot resting on a chair, elbow placed on leg and and hand against chin like the philosophers of old. As soon as he was startled the first thing he'd do is smile. His smile is as clear in my memory as if it were only yesterday.

He lives in our thoughts and memories, may Allah raise his ranks in Paradise, what a pleasant soul he was!, ameen
