This memorial website was created in memory of Nancy Walker-Petersen-Olson. Nancy was born on March 19, 1936 in Chicago, Illinois and passed away on April 11, 2021 in San Diego, California. She was a force for good during her time on earth giving unconditional love to her three children Karl, Kim, and Jennifer and her amazing grandchildren Peter, Julia, Scott, Skye, Adam, Ellie, and Audrey. Nancy was a fun Mom and taught us the joy of life while also inspiring us to live every day to its fullest. She traveled all over the world and had a zest for life that was truly all her own. She was an incredible educator for several decades teaching in Arizona, Nevada and California and she had a impact on so many students that her tireless work is still talked about to this day. We will keep you posted on this website regarding Nancy's Celebration of Life, as plans are currently in the works. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to St. Jude's Research Hospital. Thank you for your love and support as we all know that we lost a wonderful person in Nancy but her legacy of love will live on in the memories we all share.

Nancy blessed our Centering Prayer Group for many years, and she and I were friends at the First United Methodist Church. Her kindness, words of support and deep faith conveyed Christ's love to each and all. We are better for having her in our lives. Prayers for Jennifer and all her family.
This was such a loss to so many of us that quite literally grew up in the Petersen household. Nancy was a 2nd mom to me. She was an absolute blast to be around and took such good care of all of us. Enjoy the view, Nancy. Let us know all is well!
Nancy was accepting of everyone with no judgment of anyone. She was kind, funny and full of life. Her laugh was contagious and her smile genuine. She will be missed and the love for her will never end.
“A sister is a gift to the heart, a friend to the spirit, a golden thread to the meaning of life.” -Isadora James Nancy is my "Big" sister who I love deeply and the words by Isadora James encapsulate how important she is to me. I will miss her forever.
Thank you for being a wonderful second mom to me. You were amazing. So much fun. So much laughter. So much love. I’m going to miss your smile, your wise advice and fun nature. This earth isn’t the sand without you. I know my mom was waiting to greet you at the gate. I love you . Your other daughter. Jen
What a beautiful tribute to a beautiful woman. My thoughts and prayers go out to the entire family she has left behind as she moves on to her peaceful and joyous eternity.
