Her Life

A great life of adventure and family

April 17, 2019

Nancy was born April 24th, 1929 on a stormy night (she always loved storms) in Chicago IL. The first born daughter of Isabella & Donald Jackson. Her sister Joan Carole was born 2 years later and proceeded her in death by 12 years

She lived on the South side of Chicago where her Father owned a Dry Cleaning business. She attended Arthur Dixon School 1st - 8th grade, then to Chicago Christian High School and graduated in 1948. She tried out and was selected by "Holiday on Ice" (an "Ice Capades" competitor) to be a skater.  Her father put his foot down and said no.  She went on to attend Monticello College in Alton, IL with an Associate Degree of Arts and then went all the way to Boston MA to attend Bouve' College to study PE Education.

She came back to Chicago, but then headed to Dallas, TX which she picked out of 3 cities because they sent her an entire phone book as a welcome.

She was single and ready to start her life independently.

Our Father came to Texas to bring her back to Chicago and they were married May 17, 1956. Pamela Joan was born April 9, 1957, Rebecca Ann August 12, 1958 and Lawrence Hewson August 6, 1961 all in Evanston IL.

We all moved to Texas in 1967 and she loved being back in Dallas! Our family joined Lovers Lane United Methodist in 1968 and Mom has been a member ever since. After her very stressful divorce in 1972 her church became a anchor for her and she was involved in many ministries over the years. Her children were involved in church and her two daughters were married there in 1979 & 1983 before starting lives outside of Dallas.

Grandchildren started to come in 1983 with the birth of Zachary Greenwade, 1985 Michael Webster, 1988 Shannon Webster & Caitlin Warnock, 1992 Travis Warnock and Jackson Greenwade in 1993. She was always there for her grandchildren attending all High School & College Graduations. She was an honored guest at three of their weddings. She also got to enjoy great-grandchildren with the birth of Zachary's children Logan and Grayson.

Besides her 3 children, 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren Nancy is survived by her 2 Son in-Laws Kevin Webster (Pamela) and Stephen Greenwade (Rebecca) and Daughter-in-law Terri Mize Warnock (Larry)...all having been married to her children for 35 plus years.

Nancy is also survived by lifelong friend Lois Lewis and all her many friends from church, her two neighborhoods, her volunteer buddies and all she touched in her long, happy life.
