Her Life

Leeny's Little Sister

April 5, 2011

When mom brought Nancy home I admit I wasn't impressed with the new baby girl addition to our already big family. I was the baby girl of the family and didn't want to lose that position. She was so cute with her golden locks, big blue eyes and little button nose. Everyone made such a fuss over her. It soon became apparent who would be the centre of attention from now on. Little did I know that she would become my best friend and confidente in our adult lives.

Nancy loved to play with her dolls but preferred to dress up the family cat in little dresses and bonnets and stroll up and down the street with him in her buggy. That darn cat stayed right there and didn't try to jump out at all. He had quite a look of distaste for playing this role. Nancy was the boss ..and he knew it!  Before long she became ruler of the children in the neighbourhood as well.....she had  her own unique way of persuasion with the other children....they just followed her instructions and her rules....hahaha Not much changed with that when she got older either.

Nancy was loved by her teachers who had nothing but praise for her from the minute she stepped foot into kindergarten to her highschool years. She went to Sunday School  and also was in Explorers and CGIT.

Nancy had an infectious personality and whoever came in contact with her was drawn to her immediately. She loved deeply, remained loyal to her friends, and her family was the centre of her world. There wasn't anything she wouldn't do for them. Her heart was so big, but she also wore it on her sleeve leaving her wide open for hurting remarks from those who were somewhat thoughtless in their approach on disagreements with her. She took everyone under her wing and scooped up anyone who seemed the slightest bit broken and tucked them into her safe place where she would nurture them until they were mended enough to fly on their own once more. The ones that came back became part of her family.

Through her adult years there were some highs and lows as there is in most of our lives. She worried and fussed over her brood and often would forget to nurture herself. That was Nancy.... she was always thinking of ways to fix everyone ...or making new things out of old worn out things. She cooked , She cleaned , She polished and shined  and filled her home with Love.....and everyone loved her. The hardships of living soon started to bring her down physically, coupled with not attending to her own needs. Little did anyone know just how sick she was. She suffered with massive headaches continuously....but she kept on nurturing and fussing over her brood.....Then one day.... just like that..... she was gone......God said come to me you who are weary and heavy  burdened and I will give you rest..... and she answered .....yes.....I will Lord.... She has left her legacy with her children and her grandchildren....and a blueprint to follow for all of us  .....
