August 1, 2016

Ms. Naomi N Ezeagu was born on October 29, 1963 unto the union of Mr. and Mrs. Prince Ezeagu in Harbel, Firestone Margibi County, Liberia. Her parents predeceased her. Naomi was the fifth of 14 children of her father, Mr. Prince Ezeagu and the 3rd of 9 children of her Mother, Beatrice Gono Ezeagu.

Naomi was raised in the humble surroundings of Firestone. When her parents moved to Monrovia in mid 60s, she commenced her early education at the Fredrick Building, commonly called Gas School in the Camp Johnson Road community. After completing the 4th grade at the above school she, transferred to the GW Gibson School on the Capital By-Pass Road in Monrovia, where she completed her elementary education. In continuation of a quality education she enrolled at the Cathedral (Catholic) School in Monrovia and later, into the Charlotte Tolbert  Memorial high in Monrovia where she graduated from high school.

Upon graduation, Naomi enrolled at the Zion Academy on Benson St., Monrovia.

In the mid-80s, because of her desire to enter the work force in the area of Administration, she enrolled at the University of Liberia and later the Arthur Barclay Technical College, now Don Bosco college in Sinkor, Monrovia. Her entry into the work force was characterized initially by several training programs which took her to England. Having returned from England, she was employed by the DHL Courier in Monrovia as an executive secretary where she served with distinction. Her work life and hard work provided her opportunities to travel to and train in several countries, some of which included the USA, South Africa, Kenya and Tunisia. Naomi had the opportunity to work with LAMCO in Yekepa, UNOMIL, Africare, US Embassy, ARCELOR Metta Steel, PSI, OXFAM GB and lastly African Development Bank.

Naomi was a devout Christian.  She leaves to mourn, her son Lorenzo Mitchell, 2 grandchildren (Sia and Prishad Mitchell), 11 siblings, other children she raised and several relatives and friends in Liberia, Nigeria and the United States.

Naomi had a jovial personality and affectionately referred to people as Aunties or Uncles, even those she did not personally know.  She was a very inviting, friendly, hardworking and had great communication skills. She loved having people around her and enjoyed organizing social events. She was a giver, an excellent cook who loved music, especially oldies. She loved singing and growing flowers among others. She was also very independent, willful and stood up to the many challenges she had to face in her lifetime.

Naomi came to the United States to seek medical treatment in January 2016. In no time she had made several new friends who enjoyed her company and loved being around her during her stay in Colorado. Naomi fought and never gave up even in her last hours with us. We lost our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunty, colleague and friend on July 21, 2016. She will forever be remembered. We miss you Naomi.
