Dad!
I am still trying to resonate with your passing on Dad. I know it is real but I do not understand why I am yet to feel the pain of your parting. Perhaps I am filled with the Joy of knowing that you are resting in the bosom of our Lord Jesus. Each time I remember you. a smile slowly beams to my face and I immediately tell myself ...Wow he has truly done his bit and gracefully bowed out....

You truly are a man of honor. you left your family behind with a good name and a legitimate inheritance; not a single debt to be settled by your children; even your choice day to depart this world was well considered, you avoided Hope's Dec 21st, and Christmas Day and just before the year closed in you left peacefully not wanting us to start the new year sadly. What a Dad, God honored your desire of leaving before any of your children and wife.

Dad unfortunately I could not come down to Nigeria for your funeral due to the pandemic I am sure that would not have changed any part of the funeral processes because trust your children, Dad we did a great job giving you a royal passage because you deserved it. You gave your children the very best of everything life could offer: discipline, forthrightness, education, strong believe in God and prayerfulness, well traveled and to be satisfied at each stage in life that we find ourselves, while striving to attain more instead of envying others around us.

My most satisfying memories of you remains the almost one year of your visit to me and my children in Canada. I begged my siblings to sponsor that trip for you and mom, Dad you honored me at the age of 85, you said, I will stay with you and your 3Js for one year. Those are the sweet memories that me and 3Js are left with, we saw your appreciation of God in the fall, winter, spring and summer with us. You blessed us above anything else we would have desired God Bless your soul and I look forward to seeing you again in glory on the resurrection morning in Jesus Name Amen.

JP Sir!
The General as he was popularly called is very dear to me. I have seen in him the qualities of a leader and a true man and like the Woman at the well I boldly chorus to all ‘come and see’!
Daddy, I truly appreciate and would miss your prayers and blessings whenever we call. I took every word of prayer seriously and say a big amen to them.
From you I learnt the act of managing external demands and tact of relating with unfriendly friends, thank you.
When it comes to sacrificial living you top the chart! A selfless man, who will always go the extra mile despite status and class to meet the needs of both your immediate and extended family in-laws inclusive whilst not forgetting the less privileged around you.
I recall your laborious strifes, how you will return from a full day’s Sales and Marketing Manager job in Mobil and then take your car out at dusk to be become a Taxi driver until midnight in the tempestuous city of Lagos, just to ensure all four children in Uni at the time remained in school. Sometimes you ran into bandits and addicts yet you were focused to your goal of training all of us, daddy degwo!
Daddy, when leaving home to start my first job, you advised ‘never appear before your bosses unprepared and take notes when they speak. Plus, give timely feedback on assigned task before completion’ these nuggets of wisdom assisted my corporate ladder climb, thank you!
Thank you for the courage you instilled in us to fight for what we believe in and not to backdown at the least provocation or opposition.
Thank you, for not just the Christian names but character and discipline instilled in us.
JP, the more I write the more I don’t feel like letting go, sleep sweet daddy you will be dearly missed but you tenets and prayers are deep seated in our hearts, for which I am grateful.

Sleep, sweet daddy ❤️

All my love and respect you command, salute to the General!
Degwo!!!
Fondly yours Wapu,
