His Life
December 22, 2016

On that cool breezy day of December 3, 1942, a son was born to the late Render Cleveland and the late Mr. and Mrs. Willie Ed (Dorothy) Bussie and he was given the name “Nathaniel.” He was the first born to this union. He departed this life on Tuesday, December 20, 2016.

Nathaniel grew up in Moreland, Georgia surrounded by a large family filled with so much love and laughter. He was educated in the Coweta County School System. Early in life, he joined Scotts Chapel CME which later became Clark Chapel. Later in life, he worshipped faithfully and fellowshipped at Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church with his wife and her church family.

Nathaniel was employed by Southern Bell as a contractor for almost 30 years. In his later years, he was employed by National Wire and concluded his career by working faithfully at Andrews in Newnan for over five years until his health began to decline. You would never have to wonder when Nathaniel was present because his presence would light up any room and he was always the life of the party. He had a sense of humor that was far beyond one’s imagination. In telling his jokes, he was able to express his love.

Nathaniel was united in Holy Matrimony to Sophia Owens in 1963. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and most of all a “real friend.”

In addition to his parents Render Cleveland and Mr. and Mrs. Willie Ed (Dorothy) Bussie, Nathaniel was preceded in death by his sister, Jonelle Bell and his brother, Gerald Cleveland.

Nathaniel leaves to mourn his precious memories a loving and devoted wife, Sophia Owens-Cleveland; his children, Tony (Betty) Brown, Jacqueline (Butler) Holt, Joyce (Randolph) Colton, Donald (Pamela) Cleveland, Beverly Cleveland and Christina Cleveland; five sisters, Gladys Bell, Doris (James) Spear, Vera Bussie-Moore, Stephanie Bussie and Tonga (Terry) Reese; four brothers, Melvin Bussie, Willie E. Bussie, Jr., Willie James Bussie and Rayford (Brenda) Bussie; Aunt Mattie Mae Hill; three brothers-in-law, George Bell, James Spear and Albert Owens; one sister-in-law, Ella Mae Snelling; Special niece , Mary Nell Owens-Rosser; Special Friends, Johnny Rosser, Jr, Betty Cameron and Carl and Sally Sumlin; 18 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and a host of other loving relatives, friends and cousins.
