Happy Birthday Nate....this must have been a very peaceful year for you..maybe more than any you had known in your adulthood. So, I wish you another year of bliss and peace....and every year thereafter...in the arms of your Higher Power. With respect and thoughtful prayer...for you in eternal light. Louise Posnick

Nate - To the person who always had a smile on his face and a song in his heart. There are not many people in this world that have the ability to profoundly impact the hearts of others and touch their souls forever. You were definitely one of those people Nate. I will always remember what a kind, gentle, soul you were. I know that you are singing your heart out for the Angels above.

Nate didn't have a lot but he was happy with he did have. He never was evil to anyone, never complied about how bad anything was. Blessed everyone that crossed his path. I knew your brother is his healthy days. He was handsome, gregarious, and could sing, dance, and play basketball with the best. He got lost, could not be helped, but remained in the arms of those in the community that new him for over 30 years. Wherever he has gone, it is warm and loving..what Nate deserves from his end on this cold earth. RIP old friend.

I don't have any specific memories. I do remember that Nate, when I saw him at least, was always kind and gentle. Most of the people I know always knew of him, but never really knew him. I spoke to him on several occasions, prayed with him, and even shared a couple of meals with him. Most people only saw his addictions. I saw him, and he was beautiful. R.I.P. Nate.

My dearest brother (Nate) passed away from this life at 8:43 am. As he reached for my hands and we held hands I told him you don't have to fight anymore, at one point I said, "Nate you be strong even though he laid there weakened and pain. I managed to give him water to drink, he was so persistent holding that cup to drink. JUST AS PERSISTENT!!! As you all remembered him.

I remember when I first met Nate, I was brand new to the east coast and didn’t realize how cold it really got up there, all I had were California winter clothes, I was 16, my mom was at work and I was taking out the trash, he was walking up the street and at first I expected him to ask me for money, instead Nate just asked “Why Don’t You Have A Jacket Boy?” I explained that I was new to the area and introduced myself, he was wearing 3 jackets and took off one of them and gave it to me and said just to get him back when I saw him next. The next week I brought him a bag full of cigarettes, clothes, and snacks. You would’ve thought I had just given him a million dollars with how he reacted and how sincere his appreciation was. From that moment on anytime he saw me in the streets being dumb and 16 he always looked out for me. You are truly missed Nate, won’t ever forget about you. You showed me that even in bad situations it’s important to help others

First Impressions

April 2, 2013

The very first time I met Nate.  I was walking past the Riverside and saw this young man leaning against the brick wall, one knee bent with his foot pressed against the brick.  As I got closer I could hear him singing 'My Girl' and I remember thinking what a beautiful voice he had.  As I started to walk by I heard him say "how are you today lovely lady" with a nod and the most beautiful smile I ever saw.

When I think of Nate, this is the scenario that plays through my mind and always brings a smile to my face.  They say First Impressions are everlasting.  That is so true because this First Impression has lasted 40 years and I am so glad that when I think of Nate that this is the very first thing my minds eye sees.

It was an honor to know such a man that was as beautiful inside as he was outside.

God Bless you Nate.
