His Life
June 14, 2012

Nathaniel Vernon Andrus, ”Vern” to those who knew him, was born and raised in Ohio and spent many years there. He had 4 children while in Ohio; Cheryl, Michele, Renee and Christine. He then moved to Florida where he met his loving wife of 22 years who is the mother of his 3 youngest girls; Kimberly Gail & Tamara Allyse (we're twins) and Brenda Lynn (his baby).

We lived in a wonderful house in a nice neighborhood and led a typical life until Dad got sick. We spent all of our time with him and did all we could to try and get him well. After he was diagnosed with cancer that was not treatable, we knew our time was very limited. The doctors gave him a six month window to live, yet we only had him for about three months.  We made his last Thanksgiving and Christmas the best we could. He left us on February 20, 2006,  which was exactly three months before Kimberly and I graduated high school. Knowing that he wasn't there to see us in person was devastating, but I felt his presence and I'm sure Kimmy did too. I know he was with me during my time in the Marine Corps, just as I know that he is with us each and every day. It's still hard to believe he's gone. I actually picked up the phone to call him the other day to tell him something and stopped and wondered what I was doing.  I called mom and she said she could put the phone by his ashes so I could talk to him.  It's reassuring to know that he sits in the livingroom and keeps an eye on Mom and Brenda.

We all love and miss you so much, but we know that you're better now that you've gone because you don't feel any pain and you're not suffering any longer. The worst day of my life was the day you left us. I remember it as if it was just yesterday. I still hate the fact that all I could do was sit there and hold you as you slipped away, but at least you went the way you wanted... at home with the family that loves you just as much as you love them. We think of you often and miss you even more.

Love from your family that waits for the day we get to see you again... Debbie, Kimmy, Tammy and Brenny.
