Her Life
August 14, 2015

Mrs. Barrett was born in Rock Mills, Alabama on December 30, 1947, the daughter of the late Eufia Thompson Sheppard and James Madison Sheppard. She was a faithful member of the Rock Mills Community Holiness Church. Mrs. Nell had a true servant’s heart and enjoyed ministering to all she knew. She was especially fond of the elderly. For over thirty-five years she volunteered at least once a week at the, what is now known as the Pruitt Health Care Center. Sharing her talent as a gifted pianist and singer with any patient who would listen was one of the greatest joys of her life. Her great contribution to literally thousands brightened many lonely days to all those who heard her lovely music. Being a wife and mother was her other great calling. She was a mother who governed her children with both love and discipline. That combination made them the fine adults they are today. She will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by three daughters, Lisa Glaze of Hampton, GA., Lori Barrett of Lovejoy, GA., and Christy Looney (Robert) of Franklin, GA.; two sons, Darrin Mitchell, and Chuck Barrett both of Franklin, GA.; one sister, Dinah Sue Bailey of Lafayette, AL.; two brothers, Jack Sheppard of Opelika, AL., and Ted Sheppard of Franklin, GA.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Roger Roy Barrett; one sister, Joyce Butler; and four brothers, Jimmy, Gerald, Roger, and Tommy Sheppard.
