Lynn, Charles & Family, Nelson was a man I was proud to call a real friend. G.T. Eakes was my mom's 1st. cousin and we would visit him at the funeral home, so I got to know Nelson when he started to work. He helped us when Hilda's mom & both my parents passed. He would often visit me at the jewelery store & we would share a good joke! RIP, Dear Friend.

Nelson Daniel was always a great friend and took care of our family, and my husband's family in times of need. I called Mabel Cleveland in Roxboro to let her know. Her husband shared Masonic trips with the Daniels and share many memories of Hawaii and other places. May the happy memories bring smiles to family, friends and everyone who knew him. He will certainly be missed.

Brin had broken his neck in a farming accident. Brin and Mom were in the emergency room and the doctor told mom that nothing was wrong, it was just a behavior issue.  Yet every time Brin tried to raise his head he would grab the top of his head and cry.  Mom tried to tell the doctor that some thing was wrong that Brin would not just lay in the bed.  Mom empathically told the doctor just to release him.  The doctor asked what she was going to do and mom told the doctor not to worry about that, just release him.  The doctor refused and took him down to x-ray and this time did a lateral x-ray and saw that his neck was broken! Things changed in a hurry - sand bags came out and Duke was called.   Nelson was the driver of the ambulance that took Brin and Mom to Duke.  This was during a time when you had to call the Funeral Home if you needed an ambulance.

Dear Anne,

Hi!  I am sure you will remember me.  I am Hazel Williamson, wife of the late Carnell Williamson, who passed away on March 14 and was buried on St. Patrick's Day, March 17 in 1999.  Nelson and you were two of our closest friends in Oxford and in general.

I remember Nelson so well.  He was a very hard-working man and that was even more evident as he worked his way through the Masons and through the Shrine until he finally made it to Potentate of the Amran temple.  That is no small feat!

Carnell and I always looked forward to the many trips that we took together with the two of you as part of the Masons and the Shrine.  We were always fortunate that the two of you were one of the couples in our circle of closest friends in the brotherhood along with Tom and Betty McFarland and Sam and Jane Vaughan.

I know from first hand experience just how much he loved you and also how much he loved his family and friends.  Just being around him one could witness that love and energy instantly.  It was heartwarming to see such love and devotion.

One of my fondest memories of the two of you and one I am sure I shall never forget was when we all went to France together!  We had such a good time there.  Even when that young lady tried to steal my wallet and other belongings and I took both my hands, shopping bags, and purse and hit her as hard as I could and she ran off into the unknown but definitely away from us!

I wanted you to know that I am so very sorry that I could not attend Nelson's services, but I am still recovering from my broken leg.  Otherwise, I would have been there for sure.  I am certain that knowing Nelson and the two of you as I do, that there was an overwhelming abundance of family, friends, and other loved ones filling the rooms.

I do hope that perhaps once I am finished recovering and you are in the mood for company, that the two of us can get together and visit and maybe go out to eat.  I would really enjoy seeing you again but under much different circumstances.

One more thing I would like to share with you is about Carnell's services.  I remember so vividly looking up and seeing Nelson standing there!  It has remained one of my sharpest memories of that day.  Just knowing that he took that day off from his work and family in Oxford to travel to Durham to help send-off Carnell to his other brothers awaiting him meant a great deal to me.

It's things like that along with all the other memories, all of which were joyous, that mean so much.  I have no doubt that Nelson was received by the brothers who have gone on before him to make sure he is instantly greeted by loved ones.

Anne, please do not hesitate to call me, write me, email me, or whatever if I can do anything for you or maybe you just want to talk.  I would enjoy nothing better  until we can see each other in person again.

Always know that I am praying for you and your family throughout this ordeal and even afterwards too.

Keeping you in my prayers,

Love,

Hazel Williamson
