Nelson Thomas Williams, 84, a lifetime resident of Granville County passed away Sunday June 2, 2019 at Duke University Hospital.
He was born September 18, 1934 in Granville County to the late James Frederick Williams and Willie Lee Slaughter Williams. He was a member of Tally Ho Baptist Church and was a retired Public Safety Officer. Doc was one of the charter members of the Lord Granville Agricultural Heritage Association, a charter member of the Stem Ruritan Club and was a Mason for over fifty years.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday, June 5 th , 2019 at Eakes Funeral Home in Oxford by Dr. James Banks. Burial with Masonic Rites will follow the service at South Granville Memorial Gardens in Stem, NC.
Surviving are his wife of sixty-six years, Della Oakley Williams of the home; a son, Edwin Williams (Donna) of Bahama; a sister, Leola Wilkins of Garner; two brothers, Bobby Williams (Rose), of Oxford, Jerry Williams (Diane) of Henderson; three grandchildren, Jennifer Jordan, Cory Williams, Christie Truitt; seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews and his pet companion, Brigadier Jack.
Visitation will be held Tuesday evening, June 4, 2019 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Eakes Funeral Home in Oxford and at other times at the home.

Flowers are kindly accepted or memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.

We are so sorry for your loss. Doc was always such a sweet and friendly man to Murphy and me. We always enjoyed seeing him at the LGAHA activities and we will miss him.
