ForeverMissed
This memorial website was created in the memory of Nicholas Waddell, born on March 6, 1958, and passed away on May 25, 2021.  Nick was a loving dad, husband, brother, uncle and friend. He left an enormous footprint in life, and touched others with his fun loving spirit, humor and generosity.

Upon learning of Nick’s passing, many expressed a shared sentiment:  Nick was eternally positive and loved life to the fullest. The outpouring of the many thoughtful and beautiful floral tributes and messages I've received demonstrate the power of one person to uplift the hearts of those he came upon.  Such was Nicholas Graeme Waddell.

For the last several months, Nick settled into a happy life in beautiful Palm Desert and relished visits from friends and family, and playing golf.  His favorite vantage point was from a seat on our back patio that provided a sweeping view of the 15th hole.  Often starting the day as early as 4am, Nick reveled in the sun rising just above the mountains and daily visits from "Fred and Mabel", a lovely duck couple that Nick named after his grandparents.

Nick and I had many plans and so much still to do as a couple, when I could finally retire.  Sadly, time caught up with Nick before I could.

My deepest gratitude to those who had the privilege of knowing this special man and contributing joy to his life.  We all share the pain of losing Nick too soon.  Let us honor his wish that we not mourn his loss, rather, that we celebrate his life well lived.

~ Cindy Waddell

Don’t think of him as gone away
his journey’s just begun,
life holds so many facets
this earth is only one.

Just think of him as resting
from the sorrows and the tears
in a place of warmth and comfort
where there are no days and years.

Think how he must be wishing
that we could know today
how nothing but our sadness
can really pass away.

And think of him as living
in the hearts of those he touched…
for nothing loved is ever lost
and he was loved so much.

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glint on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you wake in the morning hush,
I am the swift, uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft starlight at night.

Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.
(Do not stand at my grave and cry.
I am not there, I did not die!)

Words cannot describe how sorry I feel for your loss of a truly beautiful soul. Whenever I visited or had sleepovers with Ally at his house as a young girl, he would be sure I was taken care of. His smile, laugh, and easy going nature are unforgettable. A lesson I learned from Nick was how to scramble eggs. While this may seem like a simple thing, I look back on this memory with him as something truly special. He has left a legacy to love wholeheartedly and express gratitude for life every day. My sincerest condolences, he is missed dearly.

For Cindy, Madison, Ally and Connor
It has taken nearly 4 months for the impact of Nick’s passing to sink in…when I last saw Nick in person in March he was still so strong in spirit and eternally positive, as he always was in the face of any adversity. I feel very lucky that I had that opportunity to spend time with you all in Palm Desert, celebrating birthdays and the good things in life, not least my ride on the back of Nick’s Harley through Palm Springs! It’s given me a lifetime of memories which I treasure, thinking of you all often but especially my dear brother.
As brothers do, he often drove me mad while we were growing up. But I came to realise all his many good qualities: his generosity, his hospitality in welcoming friends and family, his determination to give everyone a fun experience, his endless patience and resilience and of course his deep love for his family. We are all fortunate to have had him in our lives and the huge legacy he leaves is you. Sending big love to you all, Ginny xxxx

I often recall all the good times we had together over the years despite the distance. As a brother you were always welcoming me into your home and spoiled me whenever I came to California. You will always be there for me in my heart and thoughts.
All my love to your lovely family that you have left us to remind us of you. Xx

Hi Cindy
I just wanted to acknowledeg your lovely heartfelt tribute to Nick. It always seems hardest for those left behind when such a loved one leaves 'this mortal coil' as Shakespeare wrote.
I knew Nick for almost as long as when Virginia and I got together about 25 years ago although I only saw or spoke with him infrequently. He was as people have already said more eloquently than I can a great lover of life and of people with such a very generous spirit.
I was particularly impressed in recent years by his growing concern for a more just society and his anguish at recent political events. He grew into a wise, content and deep person; much much more than just a party lover.
He left a very warm and loving impoact with so many people his spirit will live on

with love
Peter

Dear Cindy and Ali,
We just learned of Nick’s passing and want you to know that you have our deepest condolences.
Nick was extra special, especially to all the poker guys who frequented your house when it was your Dad, Ramon’s time, as the “host” — I say “ “ because we were over more often than to anyone else’s home during those great days. You and Nick actually were the hosts and every time we were there the table was filled with all kinds of goodies to go along with the classy Margaritas that Nick made!! We loved and still miss those Days. Nick was one of a kind — so pleasant, thoughtful and caring to us all!
Ramon used to brag about him all the time and loved him for taking such good care of him. May he Rest In Peace.
Please take care and love from Caroline
And Reid, plus the girls, Pamela and Johanna.

Géza and I are so saddened and shocked to learn of Nick's passing.  Cindy and family, please accept our sincere condolences. I can not think of Nick without smiling. He was part of the Micro D family during a period of high growth, exuberance and boundless opportunity. He added charm, humor and his cute British accent to some of the best days of my life. He will be loved and missed.

Nick and I worked together for Texas Instruments years ago. He was always fun to be with, a good friend, and co-worker. I appreciate you sharing so many photos of his life. Cindy, Maddy, Ali and Connor, please accept my deepest condolences. May God's peace be with you throughout the days ahead, and always.

It’s hard put into words how much I will terribly miss Nick as I know we all will.
Back in the Summer of 1979 we met here in the UK and instantly knew we had many things in common.
We have stayed in regular touch and met on many occasions including our own weddings.
Thank you for being someone I am proud to call one of my closest and oldest friends.
Much love and prayers to Cindy, Maddy, Ali and Connor from my family

Nick and I worked together in the early 80's and had kept in touch over the years. I'm shocked his passing so early in life. He was so vibrant, witty and genuinely good company. I will miss being able to call him and catch up as we have done. I considered him a good friend. He will be missed.
Rest in Peace my friend.

Nick was one of my first managers at Panasonic, and we worked together for many years. I enjoyed catching up with Nick after he left Panasonic, when I was in the L.A. area for business. We had a lot of nice dinners together. Nick was always enjoyable to be with and a great conversationalist. He enjoyed talking abut Cindy and the kids. I was so sorry to see this post about his passing, it brought back many good memories.

I am so sorry about your loss. I still remember Nick from my onboarding class at Cylance, my notes from our intros was that he was wearing a nice suit and looking forward to contributing to the success of our amazing sales team. It was great to see when he retired and chose golf as his new profession. I will be sure to keep him in my thoughts next time I’m out there teeing it up.

Rest In Peace Nick.

My deepest condolences to you, Cindy, and your family. This saddens my heart.
I have known Nick over the years from our work life. Whenever we had a call with Nick, I couldn't help but to smile.  Thank you so much for sharing this and the beautiful poem. He clearly was lucky to have such a wonderful family.
It just makes us realize how special life is when we lose a special person like Nick. He will be missed.
Best to you.
