Thanks Lynda
I was not able to find a way to say thank you for the beautiful Life 'n' Times photo collection on your post. I guess I'll do it here. He really was a joy an treasure we all got to share. The photos clearly showed his love of life. Well done my friend.
Nick Wittmayer's Life 'n' Times
Compiled mostly with Nick's own collection of photos, these images tell a story of how family and friends filled Nick's life. His joy of life was an inspiration to all who knew him. Nick's love of life lingers within all of us forever.
He made a believer
This story starts out many, many years ago. I met Nick when in worked in the photo lab of Sandia Lab. Some 30 ,40 or maybe 50 years ago. As was Nicks habit, just before the Christmas shut down at the Lab. Nick would come to work dressed as Father Christmas. This particulate year, one of my neighbors children was of that age when he believed that Santa Claus may not be real. The child's father was explaining to me, that it was a shame, his son was beginning to no longer believe in Santa. The following day or maybe several days later, I retold this story to Nick. And with Nicks wonderful smile, he said maybe there is something we can do about that. We arrange for the child to answer the door when Nick showed up dressed as Father Christmas. I wish I could tell you the conversation that took place. But Nick later told me the conversation was between Father Christmas and the child. Now, I have not seen that child for more than forty years, but , I'm willing to bet that he still believes.
