ForeverMissed

This memorial website was created in memory of Nick Meleski, who was our husband, dad, grandfather, family member and friend.

Nick was born on August 11, 1958, in Las Cruces, New Mexico and passed away on June 26, 2021 as a result of an unexpected ballooning tragedy in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was only 62 years old, leaving us all too soon.

Nick impacted everyone he met through his love for living. Being a commercial balloon pilot enabled him to live his life to its fullest and incorporate everything and everyone he loved into this passion. His beloved global ballooning adventures created lifelong friendships with people around our world and created irreplaceable memories and cultural experiences for him, his love of his life and wife, Mona, and the many friends who he traveled alongside. Most importantly, Nick loved the time he spent with his family. He was a proud father of his two daughters (Christee McIntye and Miranda Sedillo), and had a very special love for his six grandchildren. His strong values for education, making the most out of every experience and building connections with Mother Nature will continue to live in our family for generations to come. Nick will always be remembered as his legacy continues through each of us in the way we interact with the world.

We welcome you to share your pictures, memories and videos of our Nick with all those he loved through this website. Thank you for being a part of our lives.

With love,
Nick Meleski and his family

Nick, wherever you are......I admire you lived your life following your dreams. So many have not achieved this. I will never forget the balloon ride you took me on many years ago. We left the west side of Albuquerque, then went and dipped the bucket in the Rio Grande.......then it was up to the sky....higher than the Sandia Mountains, eventually setting us right back down on the West Mesa. Sure do miss you, and will miss following your adventuring.

Our Angry Birds crew, the #1 crew in ALL of Taiwan. They are awesome, excited and ready willing and able to take anything on. This road landing is typical of the landings here in Taiwan. Somewhat tight, but we have to make it work!!!

A lot of fun times on that trip and on every trip with the two of you. He was amazing, I agree, but you are too. Together, you two were beyond compare. Always so much fun to be around. So many of the best times of my life were spent with you both. Sharing your love of people, ballooning and travelling the world, you have left an amazing trail of memories and people the world over who love you both dearly, including myself. Nick will be missed always. The world was definitely a better place with him in it.

Since I heard the news, I have been trying to find the right words to say, and more than anything, I want to express my gratitude. Thank you, thank you, thank you Nick Meleski for your humor, friendship, generosity, and joyful spirit on the ground and in the air. You are loved, and my heart is with all the friends, family, and community missing you and celebrating your life in New Mexico and around the world.

My uncle Nick Meleski was one of a kind...I don't know how to describe his big, warm, jolly energy, but anyone who met him will have felt it. He made you feel instantly comfortable and at home, his kind warmth radiated.  I'm truly honored to be his niece. He made it possible for me to do something I always wanted a few years ago when he took me up in Izia for my birthday, and it was one of the best days of my life. I didn't know at the time just how precious that memory would become.

My heart goes out to my aunt Mona and my cousins, I can't imagine the pain you're all feeling. If there was one thing that was very obvious about Uncle Nick it was how much he loved you guys. I hope that carries you through these awful times.

Rest in peace, Uncle Nick. I do believe you're sailing a balloon right now and looking down on your family and friends. We will never forget you.
