Nicole was a great friend of mine and my sister Lexie. Most of all, she was my birthday buddy. Not a day goes by where I don’t honor her on our birthday. I know she is always there in spirit and looking down on us and making sure that we are fine. Today would have been her 45th birthday . So this above all, I say Happy Birthday to you Nicole Kimber.

I love coming back here to see the stories and tributes and I am especially impressed by your auntie Elayne who is now already 83. I can't believe it's going to be 10 years this year already. Wow, where has the time gone? You will always be in our hearts my sweet friend! I was thinking about you a lot the other day while I was teaching kids how to write and illustrate their own book because I remembered that you used to read to kids. You were and will always be super inspiring to me. Much love!

Hi, Nicole,

Happy Birthday! Hope you're having an awesome time celebrating today. We sure do miss you, but I know you'd make fun of us if we were sad or sappy. I think of you every time I eat a berry medley or see someone drinking some green goop -- lol! Always try to wear my "big girl panties" in your honor.

Well… You should be 40 today. I should be calling you first thing to make fun of your crows feet, find out how many grays you sprouted overnight and ask how your age spots are coming along. You would probably then name your age spots and and send me texts from them. Id love to ask how your hubbs and kids are doing and see if they are giving you the kickass birthday you deserve, and threaten them all with my wrath if not. Come to think of it though, we probably would be together on a beach somewhere this weekend celebrating your ancientness. We would have books and magazines that we would never read because were too busy talking, sub sandwiches that we got in the morning that we would never eat because we found some dive restaurant with fresh crab and cold beer, and sunscreen that we would never reapply because we spent too long floating in the water and then we’d spend the rest of the weekend taking turns in an oatmeal bath. Still cracking up. Still talking. Me counting your grays and you telling me I’m 42 so SUCK IT Lexie G!!! I miss you every day Kiki. The big hole you’ve left in my life and in so many others’, though deep, painful and ragged, is there because we were lucky enough to have you when we did. I wouldn’t trade that empty space for never having known, loved, and adored you for anything. Love you always. Happy birthday Nicole.

Hi,
My name is Matt and I am a member of the Head & Neck Cancer Forum at the Cancer Survivor Network. In 2013 I came across this post by Nicole (nkimber, in the forum). I found it to be very heartfelt and I have been reposting it back to the top of the H&N forum every January. Many H&N members were very fond of Nicole. Thank You

Intensions For 2011
After a very inspiring yoga class this afternoon, I began to think about my intentions for 2011... in some ways a little more strict than resolutions, but in some ways a little more relaxed! Instead of vowing to do something all year, and then giving up when you break a rule, I think of intentions more as something you can reflect on every day, and even make strides to improve upon them. If you don't quite realize one of your intentions on any given day, just think about how to make it true the next!

So, I wanted to share mine... open for comment or suggestions of course... maybe by throwing these out there I will do a better job of holding myself accountable to them :)

1. I intend not to be discouraged. Undoubtedly this year will bring many challenges, but I am a tough girl..... I will overcome them! I cannot let myself be discouraged, but rather take everything that comes at me and use it as a catalyst for improvement. Improvement of my health, my medical team, my daily diet and activities, my holistic healing team, and my strength.

2. I intend to show those whom I love how much they mean to me every chance I get. This experience has brought into light those of my family and friends who can be counted on, and who cannot. It is very strange blessing in disguise! I need to show those who I care about, and who care about me, how much I love them. Being there for them through these difficult times is just as important as them being there for me.

3. I intend to share my blessings with others. It may be small on some days, and large on others, but I want to do a better job of taking the blessings I have been given, and using them to help others. What does this mean? I don't know exactly, but I do know where to start. Continuing to be a positive face every time I visit the hospital, trying to put smiles on the faces of others who are going through difficult times, and finding a way to help others who are not as fortunate are a start. Hopefully this intention will blossom into something amazing over the course of 2011.

4. I intend to have increasing faith. I do have faith, but as many of you know, it is hard not to question what is happening. I intend to start each day off with a conversation with God. Hopefully this conversation brings me a better understanding of not only what is happening, but of what I need to do to realize all of my other intentions! I will keep praying that the right path comes to me :)

I have a feeling that these will evolve as the year goes on, but I will do my best to reflect upon them every day and make them come true!

I wish all of you the very best 2011... feel free to share your intentions too!!!

Lots of hugs,

Nicole

The strangest thing.
This morning I was on the way into Virginia beach with my wife and son and for some random reason I remembered an argument I had with Nicole all the way back in our junior year if high school regarding if it would be much different to live on the east coast. It seems petty and certainly extremely random but for some reason I remembered her saying that as a surfer I should make sure to go surf on the east coast before finalizing my opinion. I have know ideahow this came about in my head and how it would be relivent to anything at all, loll .
Strange part was that while chatting with my wife I randomly saw a web update in my email regarding Nicole I noticed today was the anniversary of her passing, I felt a sad calm come over me.miss you Nicole. Save a spot in the buffet line for me in heaven. I gonna be hungry when I get there if this economy docent perk up soo

Remembering your birthday celebration from 4 years ago. It was snowing like crazy and during blizzard conditions you drove on Rt. 70 at 20mph for an hour or 2 behind a snow plow (can't exactly remember how long it was, but it was pure dedication) to make it to your surprise birthday dinner. Miss you much!

Wow, this Tuesday is going to be 10 years since my birthday buddy has passed! Not a single birthday of mine goes by where I didn’t honor Nicole’s birthday as well as mine.  Not only was she a wonderful person; she was/is still my birthday buddy.  I know that she is continuing to look down on us all and make sure we are safe and well.

Nicole's Citi Interview

August 22, 2011

We had a monthly/fun newsletter for the Citigroup LAFC. I had the fun pleasure of interviewing Nicole for the October, 2003 issue.  Here is her interview, please enjoy!

Getting To Know…..Nicole Kimber:

Well the suspense is over, California has won a Governor named Arnold and the LAFC has won a charming, funny LDA named Nicole Kimber.  And just to clarify, the funniest, smartest California Girl!  Miss Nicole was born and raised in Ventura, California where she attended Elementary and High School.  Opting to live on the “other coast”, Nicole graduated with a BBA in Marketing and BA in Computer Information Systems from St. Thomas University in Miami, FL.  Nicole also has her MBA with a concentration in Finance from Rollins College in Orlando, FL.  Nicole applied for a Citigroup LDA position through the career center at Rollins and was promptly contacted (without warning) the day of her graduation, landing an interview on the spot.  Her first LDA rotation was in the CRS (Corporate Realty Services) area in Building A.  Nicole believes that success should be the outcome of working towards something that is good, not towards something that simply stands a chance to succeed.

And Now….Kimber Trivia:  Nicole’s favorite flavor of ice cream is Mint Chocolate Chip (without the chips) – that sounds tricky!  Her favorite movie is anything that makes her laugh.  Favorite vacation spot is anywhere in the Greek Islands.  Favorite spot outside of work is the beach and favorite music is Alternative.

If Stranded On A Desert Island, Nicole would want….. a surfboard, a volleyball & her best friend.

Extra Kimber Trivia:  If Nicole could have any job in the world she would want to be the Governor of California – and oh would there be lots of work to do!

Nicole was great fun.  Heaven has inherited a fun, happy and positive angel!

Where do I start??

August 14, 2011
When I think back on my childhood 2 things come straight to mind.... Softball and The Kimbers! My life consisted of softball practice, which Steve coached me and Nicole was on my teams, or sleep overs with Nicole. I can remember many trips in Donna's convertible to the mall where we ALWAYS managed to talk her into buying us matching outfits and way too much candy. I remember the first Billy Clawers (SP) dance that she took me to, and the first time we snuck out of her house after midnight to order pizza from Dominos. I remember my first prank call, which Melissa already spoke about, I remember doing eachothers make up, blue eyeshadow... Lol which should never be allowed. I remember the first time we went snorkeling out at the Anacapa islands, how I got so sea sick going out and she sat with me the entire ride holding my hair and rubbing my back. I remember the ski trip that we were suppose to go on but the night before she got into a little trouble with her Dad so he didn't let her go... I went anyways with the boys:-)! I remember her helping me for hours with my 5th grade state report, and us singing into wooden spoons and dancing like we belonged in the movie Girls Just Want To Have Fun.I remember her trying to teach me how to blow spit bubbles, I never quite figured it out. But what I remember the most about Nicole, which I've noticed everyone has talked about, was her laugh. She had this laugh that would make everybody laugh and forget about any worry they may have! I'd give anything to hear that laugh right now. Nicole, I love you like a sister and I will!
