Her Life

Obituary

To have known her was to love her-

Nora Lee Marshall McDaniel, the first born of four children to the late Robert Lee Marshall and Nola B. Corley-Marshall, was born August 4, 1938.  She departed this life Wednesday, July 9, 2003, at North Monroe Hospital in Monroe, Louisiana.  Nora was preceded in death by her parents and two siblings, Walter and Maple.

Nora had unconditional and everlasting love for the Lord.  She accepted Christ at an early age and united with the Mound Chapel Baptist Church, where she remained an active, faithful member until the Lord called her home.  She united in holy matrimony on May 13, 1956 with Willie McDaniel, Sr.   To this union seven children were  born.   A daughter, Carolyn, preceded her in death.

Nora was a devoted wife, mother, and friend.  She had a way of developing special relationships with those whose lives she touched.  She attended the public schools of East Carroll Parish.  Nora worked diligently and tirelessly.  She was gainfully employed over the years by 16 Hour Grocery, the Lake Providence Country Club and the East Carroll Parish School Board as a substitute cafeteria worker.

She will be remembered for her friendly smile, words of wisdom, kind, generous spirit and most of all her love for God and people.  The community as a whole will miss the safe haven she provided for many, many years.

She leaves to mourn her passing:  a devoted husband, Willie McDaniel, Sr.; two daughters:  Glenda McCray and Debra (Squire) Hobbs, Grand Prairie, Texas; four sons:  Willie (Letha) McDaniel, Jr., Charles (Axie) McDaniel, Arlington, Texas,  Kenneth (Delores) McDaniel, and Robert McDaniel, Grand Prairie, Texas; one brother, Robert (Gloria) Patterson, Columbus, Ohio; one uncle, John Ward of Lake Providence, La; three aunts, Naomi Chambers, Maggie Bagley both of Detroit, Michigan and Barbara Corley of New Orleans, Louisiana; and a nephew they also raised, Larry Wallace of New Orleans, Louisiana;  a close cousin, Corine Proctor of Chicago, Illinois; six sister-in-laws, Annie Prentice, Sarah Allen, Ruthie Neely, Fleeta (Charlie) Johns, Reola and Yvonne McDaniel; a brother-in-law, Alfred McDaniel, Sr. and three godchildren, JoAnn Patterson, Dorothy Foster and Sylvia Warren;  18 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Special people in Nora's life were:  Evelyn (James) Everfield, who she thought of as a daughter,  Rev. Jessie C. Knight who she thought of as a son, Marisol Perez and her son David, who she thought of as a sister and special nephew; Hillard Livingston, who she thought of as a brother.
