In the “dug wi twa tails” pub which he owed and ran he decided the game of the day was to try to throw the glasses I had  donated to the bar at the telephone in the corner hit off the 2 walls and remain in tact on the table ????
Took over 5010oz glasses Ito achieve the result. We refurbed a while later and found broken glass still behind the facing . He had loyalty towards individuals many would have walked away from and enriched their lives as a result.Nobody was a better rugby player than him..... in his eyes anyway at least that what he made others believe.
Also from Neil Stewart: best hooker I ever played with,I know because he told me!

Wickerman festival from 2011 became an annual event with norrie and gill. Travelling in their car-packed with so much stuff but especially norries coffee pot! Their tent was huge-a bargain from tesco if i recall. The tent needed at least 2 people to put up but the first long deliberation was the correct sighting, followed by norrie's memory to recall how we assembled it the previous year -not always ably helped by the rest of us. The pressure was always on to get the tent up asap, before it rained and so we could get our first tinny down our necks! However when the great bunch of cable ties came out of norries stash we knew it was time for the complex arrangement of wind breaks, awnings and gazebos! We all became experts, well maybe not Phil,in checking and maintaining everything in all weathers. Even in the famous year of the campervan we still had to put up the tent! Such brilliant times but of course I cant always recall enough detail given it was a music festival and you couldnt go home with unspent bar tokens! Thanks Norrie xx

Met Norrie, or Stewart as I knew him, in '64/65, when his family moved in next door back in Stow after relocating from Bahrain. We kind of hit it off and palled up from then. Easy to hop over the garden wall, meet up then go off adventuring..! Such as it was...
There was a TV series of the time about two cops who busted mafia gangs, one tall blond guy, one dark short hair, so we modelled ourselves on them - they were pretty cool. We were an early AC-12!
Remember too Gill's teen year birthday parties in the Royal Hotel annex hall.. They were fun, and quite date-club!
Years pass (this is all 56 years ago!), separate paths, etc.
Sad news, condolences to Gill and Stewart family. Looks like Norrie had exactly the life I'd have expected of him!
But I've looked back today on our 'knocking about' time together, and smiled a fair bit at it, still remember it.
Guess you can't say fairer than that at the end of the day...
