We use to get to to Domino Store on Herbert McCauley to weigh ourselves, it was a penny per weight. As kids, one person slots in a penny and weighs, the second kid climbs and the weight goes up; then the 1st kid comes down, the second kid’s weight registers, and so on. Eventually we all settled the bet of who has weighed the most. Asukwuo use to eat all the ice cubes from your freezer like candy, like he was addicted to it. Yes you remembered everyday.

KoKo I remember the day I met you at Archies in Detroit. So cool, so funny, so kind you were. We instantly became fast friends. You kept tabs on me even when you returned to Nigeria and I moved to Memphis. I will never ever forget you my Friend. It was with great shock and sadness that I learnt of the passing away of my friend, our friend Oboko Inang Esien Oku, better known as Eusebio. I pray for the repose of his soul and I pray to God almighty to grant his family the strength to bear his loss. May his soul rest in peace. Amen!

My deepest condolences and sympathy to the Oboco Esien Oku’s family for the sad and untimely passing of our dearly beloved brother, The Great Usebio. He was really a “Big Brother” who would readily stand up to protect his family members. He was funny, witty and loves to socialize and have quality time with friends and family. The last time we were together was during Chief Mrs Ekei Oku’s funeral, and we had a great time consuming several bottles of E&J brandy which he fondly referred to as “Easy Jesus” . He was really a kind, generous and easy going person, and I’m very saddened he so suddenly left us.
I am really grateful to god for the life of our brother Oboco-Inang. I believe that he dealt with life on his own terms, did not take craps from any body. I love him and will always remember him, Rest in perfect peace.

I write to express my deepest condolence to you Mrs Deborah Oboko Oku and your beloved husband's family for the demise of your beloved husband, who is my son in-law. Late Elder Oboko Inang Essien of Odukpani Local Government area. Who passed unto glory after a brief illness at the age of 68 years.
Your husband lived a fulfilled life with many enduring accomplishment etched in many gold plates and marbles trailing him.
He has completed his herculean race of life and by the mercies and grace of God. Now heading straight to the heavenly remains to take his rightful place in the many rooms of his creator.
A call to glory as we have it today is quite irreversible by man, but with God, it easily reversible.
On the strength of these realities of life, we urge you and other family members of Oboko to accept the sad and painful event of his death with calmness of heart.
May the soul of Elder Oboko Inang Essien Oku rest in peace - Amen.

Though a thousand years ago, I recall Oboko as being fun-loving, easy-going, transparent, kind and authentic. He was larger than life and lived his life on his terms. I very much admired that about him. I will always remember him fondly. Rest in peace, my dear friend of long ago.

You were such a true friend, I remember, mid 80's, in Detroit, Michigan when I got caught up in a mess and you where right there to back me up. I had just talked to you a couple of days before and I had promised I would be in Calabar to see you just to reminense about the good old days. Now this happened so unexpectedly, out of nowhere. I am so heavy hearted right now but God knows best! Adios my friend until we meet again. Rest in peace!

I first met Oboko 46 years ago through my late nephew, Archibong Ishie. I have always known him as a humble, jovial and kind person. Hanging with him was never a dull moment. May the Lord accept his gentle soul.
