Daddy

April 14, 2021
My dad would always say I would follow him around all the time when I was a kid. We’d go to parties and I’d go play with the kids and then come back to make sure I kept an eye on him. lol. One other memory i remember is when he wore ROYAL BLUE from head to toe at my 5th grade graduation. As a 10 year old I was mortified but as an adult I know he was being the Nigeria-Detroit-Playa that he was. He was honestly one of the coolest men I’ve known and definitely where I get my “flyness” from. I miss our phone calls and lectures from him in Nigeria to me in Detroit. I miss hearing his laugh. Thank you for the memories Daddy (and many voicemails I now covet) and I’ll love you forever.

Kimara ❤️ Or the “Oku Diva” as he’d say lol

Uncle always called me "Mmama mi oooo" everytime I saw him and it always made me laugh so much no matter how i was feeling. It's still hard to believe you are gone when I saw you not so long before I heard you had passed. Uncle mi I will miss you. Rest in peace.

Unbelievable departure

I remember Oboko like yesterday. We were kids in Yaba Lagos, like kids, we had fun, got into trouble, for whipped, got back on the same games again. We played ping pong/table-tennis weekdays and weekend. We played felele, caught crabs, rode bikes, bought pool bets for grown ups, ran the neighborhood. This just came out of nowhere. I am shocked. We will always be missed.
