We met over 30 years ago.
26 years ago, we came to Lagos to struggle for a bright future …
In 1997 when we all had accommodation challenges, I slept in Oyingbo market while you slept in a danfo bus at Makoko with Akintunde .
We had dreams! We had desires!

The race for survival separated us at a point but we continued to fight from different directions.
You are indeed a fighter.
You fought until the last few minutes when you told me you were not sure you would make it through.
Ocean, I never believed you.
I called back several times but your line was switched off.
This was the last time I spoke with you.

Ocean Tee as I fondly called you, you are a true friend!
My family knows that I have many acquaintances but very few friends.
You were the one who stuck closer in recent times.

It’s so hard to refer to you in the past.
Who will play table tennis with on Fridays?
Who will accompany me on some of my trips to Kogi State, Ilorin, Osogbo, Ibadan etc?

My heart is heavy with the news of your departure.
How I wish this news can be called April fool in May?
How I wish I could turn back the hands of time to undo some things?

I wish your death will leave many of us in sober reflection, teaching us to do good to people around us while they are alive!
So many questions beg for answers but God will help us to know better!

To say that I will miss you is an understatement
I miss you so much already
All our regular chats, our plans …
Sun re o!
Ore mi Omotaiye Ekundayo Babalola.

Taiye, you came, you saw, and you conquered. You fought the struggles of life with a remarkable touch on the sands of time. Our stay together was short but was impactful. You lived life with great hopes of a bright future.
I recalled the plays, plans and values we shared on how to make the future great for us, our friends and the incoming generation. We added valour to our class football teams, and I remember a head collision we had. You have me a scare, you were close to giving up during this encounter, but you came back, you survived because you have a strong spirit to keep going on.
You invited me to a group of future leaders that tends toward building the kind of Nation that we would be proud of, you gave me reasons to believe that there's great hope for Nigeria.
Only God knows why you have to pass on now, many of these plans are yet to be manifested. But, who are we, to question God Almighty. However, your memories would forever be in our minds.
We love you Taiye, but we know God loves you most.
Have a restful peace, my friend.

Humm! I know you still wish to be around as much as I wanted you to be among us but death didnt permit our wishes. What can we do than to surrender to the will of God. Taiye, you would have been here if not for Eve that took the fruit from the devil and lured Adam to eat too...I do not know which of our memories to share as I bid you farewell today.
I remember our very first meeting inside JSS 1G when our class teacher most reverened Alhaji Aliyu jokingly boasted of how lucky he was to have two sets of twins in his class..., what can I say about the social jamborees that followed with the Afro-juju "Ace" of which you championed 1990.....and many others.
Taiye, I remembered Oworo-Shoki, it was where we received the real lessons of life...Ocean-Tee, part of the lessons is that struggle continues, but, I understand why you succumbed at this time; Isaiah 57: 1-2 (NLT).
Friendship transcends death; yes these momeries can never be forgotten, they will linger on. It is still fresh in my mind your good deeds how you handed me your big green traveling bag in 2005 when I was going to take-up an appointment at RUGIPO. The sacrifice was so huge that I tried to repay in 2012 when I invited you to RUGIPO but it failed just as Reuben failed to rescue Joseph for being sold into slavery against God's will. Ha, Ocean-Tee, hummm!, well, God's will must be respected!

Ocean, a true friend is never truly gone. The spirit lives on! You did not spare the little you had, so, I not gonna shy away not to spare my little at this time of your sudden passing away.
"Kokoro ko je ki a gbadun obi to gbo kakaraka", Farewell brother. Sleep on. Rest in Peace!

The news of your demise was a rude shock to me. The little time I knew you was memorable, you had a lovable spirit. If wishes could wake you up, I wish you wake up and bubble with life again. O death has done it's worst. May God comfort your family and loved ones. This indeed is a sad one rest on Ocean T.
