Wherever you are

July 21, 2020
Just know that you are deeply missed. Your large warm smile, the presence of your security, the oratry of your talks and the sense of protection you gave to all around you will forever be a vacuum.

  1. Today, we are celebrating Mr Chioke's birthday, very unfortunately , without the celebrant. It's just like yesterday he left us to be with the Lord . We're certainly not rolling out the drums but we're quietly giving glory to God for the worthy life he lived and the wonderful family he left behind. May his soul continue to rest in peace.

Adieu

August 16, 2018

Such a painful exit. I met you only once when I delivered your drivers license from enugu to your office in Lagos.  I can remember the long talk and advice you gave me before I left, you talked to me like a father. My condolences to your family and your younger brother.. I know you are in better place now.

Goodbye Austin Ogugua Chioke(Bab Sheno)

July 23, 2018

I  met Austin Ogugua Chioke in 1971. We were both in primary six. Our friendship blossomed when we both gained admission into C. I. C Enugu in January 1972 from where we passed out in 1976 . Austin and I  lived together in house 6 at C. I. C.  We respectively enrolled for various courses at the university of nigeria. Ogugua studied law at the Enugu campus while I was in faculty of engineering at Nsukka campus, he visited Nsukka often partly to socialize with his numerous friends and to visit his two younger sisters who were also students. Before he enrolled for law, he read insurance for one year at I. M. T. Enugu.

When we graduated, we shared a small two room BQ at no 6 calabar street surulere Lagos as beginners. Its was memorable.

Where do I really start to describe Austin Ogugua Chioke. Austin was extremely kind hearted , a reliable friend, very outspoken and expressive, mixed very well, veracious reader, learned very fast, natural politician (but subdued it for some reasons), loved good life and lived it to the fullest and most importantly a family man. He started caring for his siblings very early.

Austin stood out as a young boy at st Patrick's primary school with his frequent demonstrations from the stories he read in Spearman magazines. Pupils would gather around him to listen to the lastest from the magazines. Amiable and made friends easily. Very few pupils read spearman magazines then. At C. I. C. Enugu he was active in the debating society and participated in sports particularly the Karate. Austin's wits to become a lawyer manifested early with his veracious reading and outspokenness . I remember his storyline on the BOUNTY HUNTERS back then at C. I. C.

At the university, Chioke as he was popularly called played politics at high level. He cordinated the youth wings of the then NPP. He was active too in old Anambra students' politics. Austin coordinated the 1981 vacation jobs for all Anambra students. I remember he hosted several political  meetings in his father's BQ at garden avenue GRA Enugu.

When we came to Lagos as graduates, Austin adapted so fast to Lagos lifestyle .  He could enter Molue not minding his background. He understood what it took to grow! He was convinced that Lagos was the place for him. He had a lot of courage to go into an unfamiliar areas and shone. That explains his successes in several adventures.

Austin wished me happy birthday at about 10.30am  on this faithful day, 17th July my 61st birthday and a few hours later I received a message that he was no more. It was a shock that I don't know whether it will ever fade away .  Gone to be with the Lord! This experience is an indication that we are all gradually getting to the end of the journey. No sign from his charts that he was under stress or ill. I am yet to come to terms with the reality that it's all over.

God please receive his soul and console his wife, children , siblings ,Chioke and Eneh families as well as his numerous friends and associates.
