In Loving Memory of My Dear Grandma A.K.A “Big Mummy"
It's been three years since you left us, yet the pain of losing you still feels fresh and raw. Not a day goes by without the thoughts of you filling my heart and mind, a testament to the impact you had on my life and the lives of everyone blessed to know you.
Grandma, you were more than just a grandmother to me; you were my guiding light, my friend, and my source of unconditional love. Your gentle presence and warm embrace could heal any wound and calm any sorrow. You taught me the true meaning of compassion, resilience, and strength through your own unwavering spirit.
Your wisdom, earned through a lifetime of experiences, continues to inspire me each day. Your stories, filled with laughter and wisdom, echo in my mind, reminding me of the values you instilled in me – kindness, generosity, and the importance of family.
I miss the sound of your laughter, the warmth of your hugs, and the comfort of your words. Life feels incomplete without you, yet I find solace in knowing that you're at peace, resting in the arms of the Lord.
Your legacy lives on in the hearts of all who were touched by your love. My children and wife, whom you adored with every grain of your being, often speak of you with love and respect. They may not have had as much time with you as I did, but your spirit continues to guide them, shaping their lives in great ways.
As a family, we cherish the memories we shared with you – the days of Ilupeju visits filled with your delicious cooking and joyful laughter, the quiet moments of reflection and conversation, and the countless lessons you imparted with grace and humility.
Though you’re no longer with us in body, your presence lingers in every cherished memory, every shared moment, and every act of kindness inspired by your love. Your gift of love and strength will forever be felt in our hearts.
Until we meet again, Grandma, know that you are deeply loved and extremely missed. Rest in peace, knowing that your love continues to illuminate our lives, guiding us through the darkest of days and reminding us of the beauty of your enduring spirit.
With all my love and eternal gratitude, continue to rest in Peace.
Desmond Adesina.

To God be the glory for the life our Mother, Grandmother and Greatgrandmother spent and the impact she had on many people; I as one of them.

I met Mama through my late mother who always referred to her as "Yeemi" meaning (my mama). She did help as much as she could and always send me bill for all her due's in her band even though she would have covered some as she was her Band Captain. I thank God for us all that we were all given the grace by God to be able to celebrate her. May her gentle soul rest in perfect peace.

I commit all of us that she left behind into the special grace of God for His protectection and to keep us all that we may all be blessed with long and healthy life IJMN. {Amen}.

PRINCESS OLORI MARY ADEOLA ADESINA
(Alias, Mummy, Mummy; Mummy Ilupeju)
She lived the life of a good Christian woman; she was highly devoted and committed to the Lord Jesus Christ and His Doctrines.
She was a woman of virtue who lived her life peacefully with her late husband, Prince Solomon Mofoluso Adesina, and mother to her children, relations and friends.
We could recall that in spite of the tension that arose from the Lagos traffic situation, distance was never a problem for Mummy to attend important family ceremonies as well as church services and meetings even at odd hours of the day.
She was very much appreciated for her warm relationship with the family of her late husband.
Mummy had no dull moment that you can observe in her demeanor.
She sustained herself by holding to Jesus Christ with her prayers and Christian songs. You won't ever notice that she had any problem in life.
Our association with her spanned a period of more than sixty years. This period impressed deeply on us that she was a good wife and loving mother to us as well as to our children, a peaceful and kind woman who embraced harmonious family relationship with all extended families.
We thank God for her children for their care and support for such a woman who had offered so much service to others in her younger days. The Lord will surely reward them for their love and kindness.
We wish her a peaceful rest in the Bosom of the Lord.

CHIEF AND CHIEF MRS TUNDE LAPITE.

Awwwwww, Mama, you have travelled to the great beyond. By now you must have re-united with your loved ones who have gone before you! What a re-union! Mama, I can see your smiles you know, the way you used to smile when we discussed. You were a delight to be with. You were a smooth conversationist, you never ran out of topics to discuss. You certainly are at Peace where you are in the bosom of the good Lord. You indeed deserve that rest from thIs side of the divide, so sleep on Mama, till the Resurrection Day when we meet at Jesus feet. Fare thee well Mama. Adieu.

Maami (Mama Ilekeji)
Knowing you and your family at such a young age was a wonderful experience; my mum calls you iyawo lawyer, my friends call you mama white house, you have so many names and you showed love to all of us. In those days you always call me and say Taiye your Sister brought some chocolates (imagine chocolates and a young girl). After we left ilupeju you remained Maami, until you left for Big Aunty's place. Every I time come home you will chat with me for so long advising, praying and praising me for the woman I have become. You always have something to give me and also to my children that you never met. I will miss you. Knowing that you have gone to rest, till we meet again Maami. Rest in perfect peace.

To grandma
Thank you for always being loving, friendly and kind. i know you always were helping and thinking of others and now your time has come to rest.
When I think of you, I think of your comforting smile and your need to help. I will never forget my first vacation to Nigeria, I was suffering from the different climate and it was affecting my skin. In your merciful way you took me out to your garden without saying anything and broke a aloe Vera branch in half and told me to use it to help with the pain. I think back to myself and always smile cause I knew I didn’t even need to ask for you to help, it was always in your nature to help. I still look back on this day as the day I actually got to know you and grew an appreciation for natural remedies I use still till this day. I will always be thankful for that last in person moment with you.
Although you are gone, I hope your heart and your helpful spirit stays with us all and when the sun shines I’ll think of you smiling down on us from heaven.
With love

Dear Big Mummy

My first memory of you was when I came to Nigeria in the 1970s and you were saying EKU ABO (welcome home)

You allowed both Taiwo and myself to stay with you during our summer holidays and for most of our school breaks when we were growing up. You cooked my favorite food.

I thank God for your life and the resilience you showed during the various challenges you faced, this is a source of inspiration to me.

Continue to rest in peace, big mummy

Mummy, your immense care for all of us at 10 Onayade street, Fadeyi, Lagos in the 60s' & 70s' made us one big happy family. I can never forget you admonishing and advising Gbenga, Dewale and myself as naughty children. Memories flashed through me the last time I saw you in 2017 and was glad that we had you as a mother.
You lived a fulfilling life dedicated to the service of the Almighty God.
Sleep on till we meet to part no more.

May your gentle soul rest in peace. Amen.

Dear Mummy,

Rest in perfect peace.

Your death still came as a shock to me as I thought you will be with us till your 100th years. Am happy I saw you some months ago, my only regret is that if I had known that the last time, I saw you would be the last time I saw you.

I would have hugged you a little tighter, told you I love you a little louder and stayed by your side a little longer. I fondly remember you always waiting for me outside the gate in Ilupeju anytime I arrive back to Nigeria and my favorite foods ready for me.

Anyway, our God knows best. I will miss you so much.

Thank you for being my big mummy.

Love always, Sharon Otuyelu.

Death changes everything….
But Time changes nothing… I will miss the sound of your voice; I will miss teasing you...I will miss... so many things about you.

My dear Mother-in-love aka “Baba Ade’s Mama Ade” and “Mommie ooo” … I can hear your usual response.

You were the truest, dearest, mother-in-law I could ever have asked for. I called you friend, adviser, intercessor and also Mommie ooo. You touched my heart in so many ways, with your strength and laugh. The various teachings about life in general, cooking of various authentic Yoruba dishes, turning the leftovers into sumptuous new meals, wasting nothing and purposing everything into something useful, free hand cutting and sewing. I still tell folks the story of how shocked you were of my lack of sewing skills and matching me off to buy a sewing machine that very moment. “Every mom needs a sewing machine; it is an essential tool”. It kept me occupied during many winter blizzards. I still have the sewing machine and your grand children keep asking why I need it when there are dry cleaners and tailors everywhere.

My love for Yoruba worship and gospel music was further developed from your visits. Your love for Christ was evident in your ways and not only in fasting, prayers but in worship and praise. You would play the “Oke Mimo” CDs among many daily. One particular track stood out “lehin Jesu ko si enikan Oba mimo” and “O se O Jesu” we labeled them grandma’s anthems, you loved to sing and dance to them which was always infectious dance, and I would watch you sing and dance with the kids.

I thank you for sharing...The wisdom in your many advices especially those birth by our intimate conversations in the early days of my matrimonial years and motherhood. The captivating stories of your life experiences and moments of hindsight that were your teaching moment, life experiences as a sisi and wife to “Baba Ade” and as a mother. The wisdom of identifying subtle things that can derail a happy matrimonial home and relationships, the solid assurance of constant praying and praise.

So no, time changes nothing. Days will roll on and then into years but “Baba Ade’s Mama Ade” my dear mom-in love I will forever remember you with silent tears of joy thanking God that our paths crossed and knowing you are now with the Lord. He has you in His arms and I have you in my heart.

In the last few years, I gradually learnt to silently watch you preparing to exit this world.  We both knew without saying that my last visit to you in March 2020 was indeed going to be the last time we set eyes on each other this side of heaven. We tearfully said our goodbyes. But, I am still not prepared, it hit much harder than I thought it would.

I will miss the sound of your voice, your laugh when I tease you as “Baba Ade’s Mama Ade” or “my Olomi’s first wife” and the tight hugs we shared. I love you for so many reasons, but most of all for the pureness of your love. I love and thank you for how you brought up my Olomi Dewale and the godly values instilled in him. When others say you were stern, I know you were principled, firm but fair and full of love. Your ability to share your love to everyone, my friends and family included. I say thank you.

Good night my dearest Mommie ooo, Baba Ade’s Mama Ade you were indeed one in a million, one of the most beautiful souls one could ever meet. Thank you for your love, care, prayers, kind words and advices and for the precious memories of the bond we shared. I will miss you until we meet again.

TRIBUTE TO MUMMY: Olori, Chief, (Mrs.) Mary Adeola Adesina.
“Mummy”, that is what I call her, and that is what she was to me ever since the day we met until she breathed her last breadth in my presence. She used to call me Sirdoks or sometimes Sir Daddy Doks. I guess that was her safe pet name for me.
I got to meet Mummy sometime in 1979, when my wife, Yetunde her daughter and I started courting before we got married in 1980. Right from the day we met, she in her own way welcomed me in a way that I considered Special. We would exchange greetings and a few polite words and she would quietly disappear from the scene.
Getting to know Mummy during the subsequent years, I could observe that she has a very strong character, a strong disciplinarian with very high work ethics, she would not condone laziness or cutting corners under her charge. She upheld the principle of taking responsibility for your action and good behaviour at all times. We got along very well and she was a source of strength, comfort and solace to our young family, more especially when I was transferred to Warri and Yetunde was still working in Lagos. We had no reliable house help at that time.
Mummy was a great hostess, preparing many sumptuous variety of meals for lunch or dinner anytime we visit her home at Ilupeju. It was always a time to feast and you must eat out of every dish! It is also very interesting that Mummy and I shared a common trait “Snacking in between meals” and that for me was a special bond. I could enjoy many of those small chops that I love and are no longer commonly found. From mosa, ipekere, walnuts (roasted), and so many others that I can’t remember now.
Our relationship grew more intimate over the years, such that we had a kind of quiet understanding of each other and feel for each other in our own way. Mummy as I got to know her over the years, was a very kind and very generous woman, who took responsibility for family, relations, and others. She was someone who really cares. She was thrifty.
She loved her God Almighty with all her strength, her mind, and her soul. Nothing could stop her from participating in all the activities of the C&S Movement Church “Ayo ni O” when she was still agile and able. She was the popular mother of every child, taking care of them so that they can be part of the worship service and benefit from it. She had other functions and responsibilities at the church which she carried out diligently to the best of her ability.
A very generous and welcoming person to all and sundry, and many people took advantage of this trait to cheat and exploit her generosity. Like all human beings, she was subjected to people’s wickedness in many ways but she was always forgiving and will not carry such incidents in countenance.
Mummy spent the last 5 years of her life with us, and I am very grateful to God Almighty for this special Grace. It was a great experience for me living with an old family member and there were great and priceless lessons learnt apart from being a very pleasant experience.
Mummy could hold very strong opinions about things around her which sometimes may be misunderstood and may be misinterpreted, but that was her just like anyone of us. I remember fondly Mummy and I will sit next to each other having “Ipade omo Ile” that Family meeting to resolves issue affecting both of us and others.
My heart sank when we could no longer have the meetings, when she started being forgetful and was talking less staying more quiet and contemplative until we could no longer hold our “Ipade omo Ile”.
With and from her I gained a lot of valuable insight about growing old and very old too. This will be with me and will guide me until we all meet at the other side with our Lord God Almighty.
Mummy, I thank God Almighty for making our paths cross each other, for the relationship we had and for the care for my children, family as a whole and especially for me. I can never thank you enough. I thank God that we were able to spend time together, I will always remember those moments. I will always remember you. I miss you!!!
May your soul Rest in Perfect Peace. AMEN.

On behalf of all of us at the Foreign Missions and Overseas Affairs Ministry of the C&S Movement Church Surulere District, we commiserate with you on passage of Mama Adesina as just notified.

Mama was a loving mother and a devote Christian in her life time. She served God and humanity till ripe old age. We wish she could still be around for more years but God loves her more to have recalled her home at this time of her life.

Please accept our condolences while we pray that the good Lord will grant you, the entire Adesina clan and the church of God the fortitude to bear her passage.

May her gentle soul rest in the bosom of the Lord.

Warm regards and remain blessed.

Mummy lived her life with a passion for love and acceptance of all people. She was kind and very accommodating. She loved to sit and chat with us. Always curious about our future.
As a teenager then, I needed someone that I could put my absolute life in her hands but I found none except you - trustworthy holder of my challenges and fears.
She pruned my personality with wisdom and led me to Christ.
Mummy, I will continue to miss you everyday.

“Temitope....Come here”
Mrs Mary Adeola Adesina, but Grandma to me. My defender and my advocate. Whenever I would be getting yelled at or about to get a beating, well-deserved by the way. I would run to grandma. “Temitope....Come here!” – dad’s voice; knowing I’m in trouble. I already knew where to go; straight to grandma!!. The love and care that she showered on me was priceless, the hugs and the kisses, Wow!

When I visited Nigeria for the first time I had a choice of staying with my grandparents or going with my dad to the village. I was scared at the time because I hadn’t been away from my parents for extended period of time. I cried and I cried. But once my dad left, I had the time of my life. Playing video games with my grandma, breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the calling Jollof rice and Fanta! I was so spoiled exploring Lagos with my cousins (the Adeyemos). How life’s experience would be different without grandma.
I grateful for every moment with her. Growing into the man I am today, I’m starting to understand why I am the way am and where I get my personality. I attribute that to Grandma Mary and Granddad Solomon because they started the foundation for me. Without them I wouldn’t be here. To the queen whose smile would light up a room. To the beautiful person and soul. I love you grandma.
Thank you for everything.

TRIBUTE TO GRANDMA ADESINA (MAMA ADE)
We remember Mama with much affection. She was a classy lady with brains. Even in her old age one could see that she must have been very witty throughout her life. She also always had so much knowledge and wisdom to share. She was however a lady with strong will and conviction who never hesitated to declare her position on any issue.
With her signature sweet smile she always warmly welcomed visitors. She was a prayerful woman who constantly sent us forth with prayers and never failed to ask about the welfare of our entire family whenever we visited her.
Our prayer is that she will Rest In Peace with her maker whom she served diligently throughout her life.
We know that the immediate and wider families she left behind will surely miss her but they can have the satisfaction that she lived a healthy and truly productive life.
Adieu Mama Ade !! You will always be fondly remembered.

Her smile, made her never have to say a word because her smile would always warm my heart.
She’d smile whenever I was upset to remind me that there no reason to be upset. She’d smile while singing songs that have stuck with me forever. She’d smile whenever I called her name or when I’d just embrace her with a hug. She was always so cheerful she could light up the room with just her smile. I remember being in Nigeria a couple years ago and seeing her after not seeing her for so long she still had the biggest smile. I remember drinking bitter lemon and leaving it on the side table and I came back to it being finished... with a smile. I looked at her and she looked at me and started to laugh knowing that she couldn’t have sugar. I just remember her telling me to “shhh” with a smile because she knew she couldn’t have it.
I will always remember her with a smile because I always reminded to smile whenever I was with her. You will always be remembered with a smile. I love you.

Grandma! your demise came to me as a rude shock because I was so sure that you and I were going to meet soon and do you remember at my place you told me that you have asked God to give you 20 more years(smile) I had no doubt you were going to make those years knowing your close relationship with God. You ingrained in me the power of prayer and a close relationship with God. You were generous, supportive, and temperately modest. You taught me the act of ‘Godliness with contentment
Grandma, I’m just reflecting on the bond we shared over the years. I recall living with you as a bachelor at Ilupeju. I would anxiously look forward to Saturday mornings when I will prepare my special Akara for you and we both eat and, in few minutes, we would fall asleep and when we wake up, we will both smile. You will never go to bed until am back from work not minding the late hours and when I come back, we will do a quick catch-up before you retire to bed every day. “Mr. Adesina!” that is what you would always call me, and I will answer “Emi ni’’ then your lovely smile. So, I won’t hear you call me that again??
In your last visit to my house, I remember you had a wish, you wanted an opportunity to spend some time with all your children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren in your place. Grandma, I know the love you shared with so many that came your way.
Grandma, I will miss you dearly but am very happy and certain that you are in a better place. I love you.
