Happy posthumous birthday, Sisi mi. Not a day goes by that I don’t miss you. Grief is such a strange thing. There are so many things I miss. Your incredibly heartwarming smile, your laugh, and the soft gentle touch that you brought to everything. I wasn’t sure how I could continue on without you, but your spirit that lives within me and the legacy you left behind have spurred me forward. There are no words to describe the mark you’ve left on my life and the sweet, innocent bond we still share. I miss you and I love you. Until we meet in Heaven.

My Sisi....today is your birthday, your post humous 75th. You looked forward to this day as we started planning it from Jan 1, this year. As your days drew nigh, you beseeched me thus, “ma binu si mi ohhh,” little did I know you had signed a new contract with your maker.

My Sisi, we remember you today...with pain, yet joy in our hearts because you are now celebrating endlessly with your maker.

We bless God ceaselessly for your awesome life of impact...as the Lord gives us His grace, we your children & grandchildren would continue in that path and the world will forever celebrate your beautiful soul, this beautiful daughter of God that walked this earth, left her feet in the sands of time and continues to make impact even in death.

When the new year began, i never imagined that August would look this way. We had such big plans for your 75th birthday. I was most excited to be seeing you again in person after 2 long years (voice calls and video chats just don't do any justice). I never imagined that on your birthday, i would be writing out a tribute in remembrance of you. I still wonder why you had to leave so soon, but i suppose God had other plans. I think about you and i miss you everyday. But one thing that brings me comfort is the assurance that you're doing okay. You finally have peace in heaven.

Continue to sleep well Sisi Mi.

I met Mama only once -- even though I had heard a bit about her before then. Why then do I feel as if I've known her for years -- and even for decades? Why do I feel like I've lost someone important? I may never be able to answer these questions; but that tells you the impact Mama made on me. I am not the emotional type, but I feel sad realizing that i won't be able to call Mama on the phone and hear her laugh, or see her face break into her usual smile. All glory to God for her life and the fruit of her life in the persons of her children. Joe Dauda.

All it takes is a moment
For a smile to touch your life
Yours was one of those rare gems
Bright like sunshine, cool as breeze.

And your heart, so kind, so pure
One that loved, nurtured and cared
Will be remembered always,
As you, mother, rest in peace.

Sisi was a Mother in Israel. Sisi accepted all ages and every one as her own. No discrimination love to all and sundry .I knew her as a mother at St John's Anglican church Aroloya Lagos.

In the twilight of her journey Afolabi was there for her. She was very happy I thought that he is an only child. Every time I met with her she said 'Aunty e ma ba mi gbadura fun Afolabi' which we did together severally.

She was a very good Christian mother, ageless as a Sisi.

Afolabi mothers are proud of you and
God bless you and your siblings as you give Sisi a befitting burial.

Sisi rest in the bosom of our Creator in the name of Jesus

Although it had been a while since we last saw, I am comforted by the legacy that you have left behind. As shocking and as painful this is to us, I am sure you are resting peacefully with God. You brightened our world, thank you for your accepting nature and loving heart. To the family, please accept my deepest condolences. Rest on ma.

I met Sisi in 2003, through my association with my friend, and now brother Afolabi. And since that time, she has been a mother to me. I must admit it took me a while to come to grasp with why every close member of the family called her “Sisi”. Back story to the name aside, getting to experience her by yourself helps you appreciate why she is called Sisi.

Sisi was full of life, and a joy to be around. Her counsel was sound and her heart was full of love. Her big heart is something very evident in her children and the kindness they show to others. I remember her occasionally interest in my wellbeing.

Even though you have left us, your memory is blessed. Thank you for also giving us children that help make the world a better place to live.

I remember the last interaction I had with Sisi and how she repeatedly teased myself and colleague about the work we had come to submit.

There's never a dull moment with Sisi. I will forever cherish the little moments with her.

She was indeed the true definition of a loving mother and a light...

May God give you peace, shine light unto your path and comfort to the rest of the family.

TRIBUTE TO OUR BELOVED MOTHER, SISTER, AUNTY, 'SISI', Late MRS OLUBUNMI, OLAYINKA OKIKIOLA IMOKHUEDE, nee OLUSOGA.

On behalf of my family, I commiserate with the entire families of IMOKHUEDE and OLUSOGA, on the transition of our illustrious mother, sister, aunty, and cherished family friend, MRS OLUBUNMI OLAYINKA OKIKIOLA IMOKHUEDE nee OLUSOGA.
We take solace in the belief that she is at peace with our Lord Jesus Christ, who is the resurrection and the life.

We met 'SISI' as she was well known and called in 1996, when we were serving as the Vicar at St John's Anglican Church, Aroloya, Lagos, and ever since then she took us as a member of her family. She introduced us to her late mother, all her siblings, her children and grandchildren.

She was a very dedicated and devoted Christian, very loving and caring, and her spirit of generosity was unquantifiable.
She would make sure that she visited us in our station, no matter the cost, or the distance, even up to Badagry when we were asked to go and prepare Badagry Archdeaconry for the proposed Badagry Anglican Missionary Diocese.
She has a way of asking a member of the family about the needs of the family, and she would bring them along with her at the next visit despite the fact that she was not mobile, the distance was never a barrier.

'SISI' was a person that none of us can forget so easily. We shall continue to appreciate her for her love and goodwill.
She lived a fulfilled and well accomplished life, a life full of care, concern and love for all and sundry.

We pray that God will uphold and strengthen her siblings, children, grandchildren, the family at large, and her societies, especially Egbe Igbekele Kristi, (Aroloya Branch.)
May God grant her departed soul eternal rest, and let light perpetual shine upon her in Jesus Christ's name. Amen.

1. The saints of God, their
      conflict past,
   And life's long battle won
      at last,
   No more they need the
      shield or sword,
   They cast them down
      before their Lord;
   Oh happy saints, for
      ever blest,
   At Jesus' feet how safe
      your rest!
   IOM 520/HC 401.

My Mother – Mrs. Olubunmi Olayinka Okikiola Imoukhuede
aka Sisi (nee Olusoga)

Celebrating Great Faith, Great Strength, Industry, Motherly Care, Gentility & True Love

Mrs. Olubunmi Olayinka Okikiola Imoukhuede (aka Sisi) was born on Saturday, August 11, 1945 as first child to proud parents; Mr. Gabriel Folorunsho & Mrs. Yetunde Olajumoke Olusoga both of blessed memory. She was not only a bundle of joy and care to her parents but also to her grandmother Mrs. Julianah Olabimpe Okuromade (nee Runsewe) aka Mama Halleluyah or Mama Oni-panla; reason being Mummy Y.O. Olusoga was the only biological child of Mama in her lifetime. This joy was multiplied nine times as Sisi soon grew to become the leader of a football battalion with 8 siblings (4 ladies and 4 men).

She had her elementary education in Girls’ Modern Academy, Igbosere, Lagos Island, Lagos with fond stories characterized by Mrs. Manuwa, Mrs Bucknor, Mrs. Oseni, Ms. Boyo etc. and later her secondary education at the prestigious  May Flower, Ikenne, a co-educational school founded by late Tai & Sheila Solarin. Upon her successful graduation in 1963, she immediately enrolled for her diploma in Data Computing, a trade that earned her a job position in the then Electricity Corporation of Nigeria (ECN) now Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) with bosses like Engr. Ilumoka, Engr. Solarin and Mr. Ogboru.

In the course of her life journey, she met Late Lt. Akintayo Dare, got married in 1964 and was blessed with her first son – Olatunji (the die-hard toast of Mama being her first great-grandchild) and later Akinyemi. This marriage was painfully cut short as she lost her heartthrob to the painful hands of death on that black Wednesday, Dec 23, 1970, after sustaining neck injury at parade exercise. It was the same day the young family was preparing to leave Lagos and go spend the Christmas with him at his Benin-City posting as the then Military Assistant to Maj. Gen. David Jemibewon.

Few years later, fate would bring her in contact and marriage with her “My Dear” and administrator per excellence - Joseph Imoukhuede OBE. This marriage was blessed with Oluwakemi and Afolabi. “My Dear” was everything Sisi desired in her man-a father, doting and caring husband, highly cerebral, detailed and an achiever. Their friendship grew and matured until that faithful black Thursday April 27, 1989 when he joined the saints triumphant after a brief illness.

The loss of 2 husbands did not deter Sisi, she survived it all and bounced back stronger pouring and directing all her affection to her children and the industry required to see them through their education.

Industry: Sisi is a great multi-tasker, very industrious and gallant homemaker. Post her days at ECN after an early retirement on the request of her “My Dear” in other to take care of her younger kids, she ran a successful poultry farm. This she terminated at her husband’s death and moved on to combining dual business of fabrics (aso-oke) precisely and educational stationery as a distributor of Onward. Sisi handled every work her hands found to do very well & profitably so as to successfully finance her children’s education even selling all her gold, precious jewelry and expensive laces at the time. To the glory of God, they have all turned out successful.

On the home front, Sisi is a generous and kind homemaker. Sisi loves to wash and iron for all and sundry (every of her siblings attest to this). She singularly laundered all of “My Dear’s” clothing till his death after terminating the laundry cleaner due to several complaints. A long-range planner, Sisi would carry out her Christmas shopping for the kids and every of her siblings from as early as August. An excellent bookkeeper, little wonder she has been Society Treasurer/Secretary at various times, a trait most of her children have also imbibed.

A devout member of St. John’s Church, Aroloya Lagos which is the historic family church. An active member of YWCA (parents) and Igbekele Kristi both of St. John’s Church Aroloya, Lagos.

A fashionable, sociable, easy-going and peace loving Sisi with her radiating signature smile, who is fun to be with at all times and never a bother to any. A woman of faith, whose faith in God has seen her through all the many dark days but has kept her strong and unwavering even till her last moment on earth.

Tribute to Sisi

May 12, 2020
Sisi as she was fondly called by everyone was a person with a large heart and very accommodating. This is a virtue she inherited from mama(her grandma) and also from mummy (her mother). She lived in peace with all and sundry. She was always ready to suffer wrong for peace to reign. The first thing anyone would notice anytime you meet her was her smile. Full of life, a cheerful giver, wonderful to be with. She was God fearing and served Him till the end. Indeed I will miss you. Goodnight my own dear Saisai.
