Abayomi Femi Coker, the Consultant Extraordinaire!

It is very sad that I am writing this! I shared lots of shinning moments with Consultant, as I fondly call him. That title was earned because Femi was very outstanding and versatile. Always ready to assist in coaching and teaching.
We participated in implementation of many systems/upgrades for Treasury and Treasury Operations and the Bank. Whenever there are issues with human or system challenges, he would say, bring your chair let us review it together; else he will call. We will brainstorm and do lots of computations to agree or disprove the situation and find solutions. Never failing to push further!
He was very humble and humane, despite his intellectual acumen; easy going and never saying things that can draw one back, always looking for positive future and outcome!
Ah, is it Femi that I am writing about? O God! What a sad day! God Have Mercy!
Eternal rest grant unto his soul and let perpetual light shine on him. May his gentle soul rest in peace!

Sir Coker!!

This is still so hard to digest. I can't fathom hearing from you one moment and hearing of your demise the next. Without a doubt, you have gone too soon but you left an indelible mark in our hearts and minds. You were a force to be reckoned with and very generous. Always quick to resolve issues with your no nonsense demeanor. A friend of 'Control' even though we faced off on few occasions. To think you even called on Saturday to clarify an issue and we laughed over it!. Will miss you greatly Sir Coker. The Lord grant your family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss. Rest on Sir Coks!!!!!

Femi was a friend, brother and colleague. How does one express the amazing essence and spirit of Femi Coker – his selfless generosity, uncompromising belief in all that is good and his unwavering commitment to family and friends. Words, even the very best of words, cannot pay tribute or truly capture the sense of loss that we are all feeling today.

The loss is there, tangible and real within everyone…but Femi Coker exemplified life, love, laughter and an irrepressible belief and faith in seeing the best in everything. His special leadership abilities and charismatic personality were readily apparent! He had a gift of innovative thinking, a visionary spirit, and the tenacious patience required to successfully lead meaningful reform.

And so today we honor him, by profoundly feeling and expressing our loss, we find solace in the word of God (1 Corinthians 15:51–57) “Behold! I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed. For this perishable body must put on the imperishable, and this mortal body must put on immortality. When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.” “O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Words can not quantify how heartbroken I have been since I got the news of your demise. "Oga Coker" as fondly called by all; a think tank, rugged, dutiful, diligent, ever ready to front for one,an addict giver, dedicated to God, family and all around.
Last week when I called, all you were telling me was to appreciate your loving wife for her tender care. I will forever be grateful for facilitating my transfer to my present position, all the impacted skills and knowledge gained from you.
May the good Lord grant your family and all of us,the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss. Your good works live on, boss. Rest in peace.

I am still in shock of your sudden demise. I keep wondering why good people have to die. For the few years I knew you, I wish I can be as cool and calm as you show in all circumstances. A true description of what Christianity is all about. I can't question God about this sad event but I believe one thing: you are resting in God's bossom. You lived a good life and I pray that God almighty will preserve all you left behind and yours. Rest in Peace Sir.

Why do we cry? Why so much pain when we lose a loved one? It is because death was never part of God's purpose. He wanted man to leave forever in a paradise earth without dying. We take comfort in the fact that soon this purpose of his will come to pass (Isaiah55:9-11), God's utterances will always come to fruition. We look forward to the resurrection of our dear loved ones, 1Corinthians 15:21,22.
I will personally miss you, you thought me how to cook Beans and Corn mix(Ewa Adalu). You said I could use sweet corn to improvise for the corn. My husband always asked for this meal, and you made it possible to fulfill his wish. You took me on my 1st trip to Dubai, you arranged the Visa, and ticket, you treated me like a big brother does to his beloved little sister. He couldn't stop buying things for his beloved wife , he wanted to buy everything beautiful he saw for her and also for the kids. Abayomi is a loving person to his family and those who crossed his path. I write amidst tears. May Jehocah comfort his dear wife and kids. 21Corinthian 1:3,4

Dear friend,
I have very fond memories etched indelibly on my heart and mind. The struggles we shared working together on projects and numerous arduous assignments and the triumphs as we basked in the euphoria of organizational and industry awards and accolades.
You came, you saw and you conquered in time and what's more, in eternity. I am so glad you know Jesus. Sleep on in the bosom of the Lord Jesus till we meet to part no more.
Dear Reverend, professional fellow and friend, you are truly missed!

Life is a mystery. The beautiful stories of life are often remembered when one is no more but your story resonated while you lived. You lived a selflesss life and touched the lives of everyone who shared a story with you.

May your story live long enough to propel those whom you left behind to greater glory. May God strengthen your wife and children as they will never lack and will always remember the truly great man that you are. Rest in peace Femi! Your good deeds will outlive you!

Rest peace in brother.

Oh! What a date that a great man, whose smile and advice will forever be remembered, slept in the Lord. You departed in a manner that the people beside you did not know that you had gone. You left in such a peaceful way and admonished everyone to thank your wife for taking good care of you, yet nobody knew that your time was up. We do not grieve as those who have no hope (1 Thess. 4: 13-18). For this I feel: The spirit never betrays the person who trusts it. Physical life may be defeated but life goes on; character survives, goodness lives, and love is immortal.
You were an epitome of true Christian because you carried the burden of everyone that came your way as your own. Your epitome of love cannot be overqualified, you were more than a million persons to us,no one can be compared to the love you showed to us all the time. Sweet is the memory of the righteous (Prov.10:7). You may be gone but you will never be forgotten. Indeed, we cannot forget you as your memory will live with us forever. We celebrate you as we as for God's strength upon your family. You brought joy, happiness and laughter to all who met you; you will sorely missed by everyone. For all the joy you gave our family, may you rest peacefully.

Mr Femi Coker, This feels so unbelievable and I am just short of words.
You are helpful and hardworking; always looking for a way out.
You told me to stop complaining and get a plan. Few weeks later, you asked again for my plan. I saw the genuiness of a father and I told you. The rest they say is history, you took it upon yourself to be there for me all through. You got my back.

You give, not out of compulsion but generously. You know the job, carrying it out effortlessly
You are funny, making us see bright side to issue

Mr Coker, Rest on in peace and may the Lord comfort your family.

"Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near, so loved, so missed, so very dear."

Uncle, I still can’t believe I am writing a tribute because of your passing. Words cannot describe this difficult moment, but if this is the last time I get to say goodbye then I know I will do so with the knowledge that I consider myself blessed to have lived this life as your niece.

Thank you for being my mom's sibling
Thank you for being my Uncle
Thank you for being a perfect big daddy to my kids
Thank you for being so kind, thoughtful and family oriented
Thank you for being Christ-like.

You touched so many lives by your selfless and countless acts of kindness, always giving and never expecting any favours in return. Your dedication to a cause was what set you apart.

Uncle, you were and will always be an inspiration to myself, the entire family and anyone who worked with you.
You have left a void in the family that will never be filled.

We all miss you already and its only being 4 days.
While we mourn today, we also take comfort in the fact that your mission on earth has been fulfilled. We thank the Lord for your life and bid you farewell until we meet again.

Uncle Aremu.......

It's hard to come to terms with your passing. Your have left us at a young age but your existence, character, grace, politeness, humility, affection, goodwill, respectfulness and character of decency will become stories that will age well in my memory of you.

I will tell people who look up to me that i once had an uncle whose existence was and is unmatchable.

I can go on all day and write about moments i always admired you from afar wishing to grow up as a man like you. However, my message is this, if outstanding human being was a subject, you would be the topic.

Rev. Coker!
Words fail me. We last saw each other on January 3rd this year when you and your dear wife stopped briefly at my house to see how my family and I were doing after not having seen us in a long time. The news of your departure from this world barely a month after that is shocking and still difficult for me to accept as the reality but alas God gives and God takes, who are we to question him? We take solace in the knowledge that you have lived your life in a way that left positive impact on many. We will always miss you, Rest in perfect peace Reverend.

PRECIOUS IN THE SIGHT OF GOD IS THE DEATH OF HIS OWN
Oh dear Femi, when we spoke last on the phone, little did I know that would be the last time. You were so calm, so helpful, so forward and upward looking. No wonder! Eternity being in the heart of man, you knew you'd soon be seeing your Saviour and Lord face to face. I believe He welcomed you as a good and faithful servant. Father Lord we thank You for the life Femi lived. Thank you for the positive impact Femi had on lives. Thank you for Your Spirit our Comforter, our Helper, our Standby, our Guide and Teacher. Please be there for Your son's wife, children and loved ones. Lord, teach us who are still here on earth to number our days that we may apply our hearts to wisdom in the awareness that it's not how long we live but how well we please You. Help us Lord to seek You sincerely and fulfill Your purpose for us in the name of Jesus.

Heavenly Rest - Femi Coker

February 11, 2021
My brother, My friend and colleague.
Your glorious call came as a shock to me because we chatted on Saturday and you spoke to another colleague on that fateful Sunday.

You were  a trusted friend who had passion for excellence and work ethics and very principled with so much love for your family.

You were my trusted adviser especially on issues that need forensic resolutions and you never failed with solutions in the office.

I remember your prayer on Jan 4th on first working day of the year at the office where you prayed for us all to make heaven when our time comes.

Roman's 14 v 8. If we live, we live for the lord, if we die, we die for the lord, so, weather we live or die, we belong to God.

My prayer is for Motunrayo and the family for strength and peace of God at this time.

Rest in peace Reverend Femi Abayomi Coker
