I know Funmi by proxy thru' my very good childhood friend - Kikelomo Bolanle Mojimoniyi (nee Mabadeje) who lived most of her adult life in Kuwait with Segun her husband. Kike always and still talks glowingly about Funmi and her family.
May the gentle souls of Funmi, her husband and their children rest in perfect peace.
It is only God that can understand and explain this tragedy but we thank him also because he giveth and taketh! Sleep on and rest in the bosom of our Lord.

I am across the pond and just received the shocking news about Funmi and her beautiful family. I remember your beautiful smile and our extended coffee at the Botanical Gardens in B'ham. Mojo at that time was an obvious beautiful and quiet child. I never got to meet your baby daughter. Only god knows why - he has prepared a better place for you all. Your work here is done but you shall never be forgotten. May you all rest peacefully in gods hands

I would like to send my deepest sympathy to the family of Miss Ajibona husband and girls. They were such a beautiful family. I didn't really know her husband, I met him once when you picked up little Grace from Sunday school. I grew to love them as if they were my own family. Grace was such a bright little girl with big dreams. Mojo was a beautiful soul, a very polite and friendly teenager. Funmi always greeted me with a smile and a hug, always asking how I was and my family.
I miss her and her beautiful daughters.
Rest in piece beautiful family, you are all now with God

With deep sorrow I leave a tribute on a colleague Dr Funmi Ajibona Kehinde. We worked together as specialist registrar in obstetrics and gynaecology in St John's hospital Chelmsford. She was an accomplished doctor with a passion for caring. You'll ever be remembered by those families you helped through their darkest & scariest times in their life. May your soul and the souls of your husband and children rest in perfect peace.

My dear Funmi, my heart aches at this very tragic news. Memories of our time together at U.I. over 30yrs ago are so vivid to me, they are just like yesterday. I remember our discussions late into the nite about the future, our dreams(of which many of them came true). You were my Maid of Honor at my wedding, and I still remember all the good food that we cooked together.
Funmi, we are all heart broken, but God knows best!
Good nite my beloved, as you and your family rest in the arms of our Creator. So long till we meet again to part no more. Sun re o Funmilola!

So sad to hear this terrible news about Funmi & family.
I have fond & happy memories of Funmi & I as children, when she spent time with our next door neighbour, Mrs Poole 'Aunty May', and even though we have had very different lives, I have often thought about you and will no doubt continue to do so....
May you all rest in peace & God bless

Words fail us to express our shock and deepest sorrow to learn that our beloved Dunni, Funmi, Mojoyin and Grace have departed this sinful world in tragic circumstances. "Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?". We still cannot believe that we will never meet again in this side of eternity. Dunni , thank you for your friendship and generosity. Thank you, Funmi, for your friendship, generosity and hospitality. We will miss your fellowship, your smiles, your visits and your phone calls. Mojoyin and Grace, you were like daughters to us. We will miss you very much. Our greatest comfort is that you are all resting in the Lord. We know we will meet again. It is a very painful good night. Rest in perfect peace in the bosom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Death where is thy sting? O grave where is thy victory? Aunty Funmi was such a lovely and blessed soul, so sad to hear the news of her passing with Mojo, Grace Omolayo and Prof. She took me as a sister and always sent gifts to my children, I remember our jokes and the sweet times together with the family. Aunty, we take solace in the fact that you knew the Lord and He knows why it happened this way...Good night aunty, see you and the family on the other side where we will meet to part to no more. Forever in our hearts.

Funmi Ajibona was my aunt, even though she was Yoruba and I am Scottish. She was fostered by the woman who adopted my mum. Many fond memories of her and my sisters growing up in a South Yorkshire village. This has shocked and saddened me rather much. Going to miss her ...

My dear room mate

Words fail me to describe the shock of your untimely (to man) departure and your lovely sweet girls who I met last year. Funmi you brought light, laughter, and warmth to so many including myself. I always remember the contrast of your impeccable English and your down to earth Yoruba which would often cause eruptions of laughter as people often did not expect you to have the depth of knowledge or diction in our dear language. I choose to remember you as a bright bubbly friend who always had time to share her love and life with everyone. Since I heard of your departure the tune of your daughters teasing you at the reunion last year and the motherly smile on your face as they teased has not stopped ringing in my mind "mummy the slow we want to go"

May you and your family rest in God,s perfect peace.

The greatest consolation is that you knew Christ and the salvation he brought through believing in his life death and resurrection.

Sun re o roomy.

Love Afolake

What a difficult time and sobering experience. Funmi, I still find it hard to believe that we are all writing your memorial! What a sad and painful event . Is it really true that you are gone with lovely family never to comeback? Gone with your charm and smiles? Gone with your impeccable and angelic character? What a cruel world. Who wrote such a script?
But I am double sure that whatever God does not know about will NEVER happen. Funmi, please enjoy your peace among the angels, and the immortals. Rest in peace.

What can we say, how does one start processing the loss of a gem, a rare and unique human breed. A loving soul. How does one contemplate your love for all those around you! The death of the children and your husband as well is just too much for one to bear. It is very painful to the marrow, but our consolation is in the sweet memory you left behind.
Keep sleeping in the blossom of your creator along with Mojoyin, Grace and your husband.

Funmi Ajibona, Prof Kehinde, Mojo and Grace. A whole family - gone, without warning or so much as extra time for a warm goodnight & a fond farewell to friends & family. There are no words to describe this tragedy and its devastating effects on our medical school community, on her family and her friends. How do we take measure of 4 precious lives gone too soon? Funmi - you were a gentle and wise soul, an "Aso" who chose and articulated her words so carefully that they rolled off her tongue like music. A radiant soul, I don't believe I ever saw her without a smile, a light and a twinkle in her eye. We weren't best friends by any means but she was still my friend, a colleague, a gem that has earned her wings, together with the most precious things in her life - her family. Rest in perfect peace together, you and yours , in the bosom of your maker and savior.

Funmi, You are indeed one of the sweetest souls God ever created. You were as gentle as a dove and kindhearted. I cannot forget the help you rendered to me when I was trying to get a registrar job in OB/GYN at your hospital in the U.K. I wasn't so close to you in Med school but you welcomed me into your house for a few days and gave me all the help I ever needed. You made me feel so special. I'm thankful that I was able to spend a little time with you at our 27th Med school reunion in London. What happened to you doesn't make sense at all but God is unquestionable. I have learnt in life, it's not how long we stay on this side of heaven, it's not how we exit, it's how we lived. Even though it hurts that you are not with us on this side anymore, I take comfort in His grace. Sleep on Funmi, Mojo, Grace and Professor Kehinde in His bosom where there's no more pain. I pray that God will strengthen and comfort your parents and the rest of the family with the Comfort He alone can provide.

ADIEU Funmi; you came to this sinful world with glowing hope and tenacious aspirations to impact positively on humanity. This you have done but your candle of life was put off untimely and suddenly. Your departure has brought on us a poignant loss and sonorous sorrow of colossal level. Funmi will be greatly missed but her warmth, kindness and gentle spirit will be remembered forever. Like a bird singing in the rain, let grateful memories survive in time of sorrow. Funmi's death leave a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal. Saying goodbye to someone we dearly love is heartbreaking, may we all find comfort in all the special memories shared with Funmi.
With love & remembrance.

Wonderful times with Funmi

August 30, 2017

I have so many fond memories of Funmi. I first met Funmi on her wedding day. She looked so beautiful and was very happy. We became close when she moved to Birmingham. I miss our visits to the theatre and the delicious deserts we often had during the intervals. We shared many stories and pictures of the different places we had been to on our holidays. I miss our long chats on the phone which always began with “Auntie good evening …”. I also miss the visits to each other's houses and the delicious meals she always cooked. It was a privilege to have known such a wonderful woman.
