This memorial website was created in memory of our mother, Olukemi Regina Akomolafe, born on October 12, 1938 and passed away at the age of 80 years old on July 18, 2019. We will remember her forever.

Mama Titi as many refer to her, has been a pillar to our family. Till death, she was married to our father, Dr G.O. Akomolafe for 56 years.

Through her life, she showed us what grace really means by never holding a grudge against anyone. She had a heart of forgiveness that we will always remember and work to emulate.

Please join us in celebrating her life and we welcome you to share your tributes and memories.

Mommy loved everyone and her generous heart is unmatched. She is survived by her Husband, our father, many children and an abundance of grand children and great grand children. She was a mother to all.

Much appreciation to all our family and friends that was able to join us in her final rest celebration and for those that couldn't make it, we are sure you would have wanted to be there. You are loved and appreciated.

If you really want to get to know the woman we call our mother, read Proverbs 31: 10-31. That is our mother all her life!

Our dear Mrs Adekemi Akomolafe who is now resting in the bosom of the Lord, was fondly called Mummy Ife within our family .
She was a wonderful woman who lived a prayerful life and would always greet with prayers. Mummy Ife was very friendly, she had a good word and a pleasant joke for everyone she met.
Our relationship started almost three decades ago and we never regretted our meeting and coming together as family.
Mummy Ife was very respectful, always accommodating and loving . She operated an open door system in her home. At many different times she boarded, trained and educated several relatives, and several children whom she never knew nor met their parents. This we got to know, because as our relationship progressed we met several of these her adopted children and relatives.
We were not surprised when we noticed this level of warmth and openness in her biological children too.
Mummy Ife would pick up the phone and call just to find out our well being. She ensured that we did not lack the best of farm products all year round. A few weeks before her passing, she still sent various items to us in Lagos.
Mummy Ife fondly called me Aunty Doyin and related with me as her daughter.
In Ife branch office of the organization I worked Mummy Ife had several children.Often times she would call me up in Lagos on some request relating to any of these my aburos (as she called them) I would dare not tarry on it, because when Mummy Ife was on you, she was on you.
At Christmas time, when I sent gift items to her she would share it to her children in Ife branch and her church members. I would send more and peeeewn Mummy Ife had given them all out. No matter the number you sent, they were gone.
Mummy Ife had a very kind heart and she was a blessing to many.
She left a great legacy behind.

Mummy Ife, we will surely miss you.

Adieu

Hmmmm, mama Titi, its hard to say good bye. I've known her for over 50 years, the only rock behind baba titi. A good organiser of the family's wellbeing. She took care of her husband's relations as if her life depend on them. She had a unique quality, you can never provoke mama Titi. God fearing and religiously associated with co believers. Abiyamo to n raga bo omo re, she never took chances with her children's health. She listened to advice, very honest and reliable. She was a trustworthy person. Mafolayomi, I remembered u told me that if people don't last in your linege, yours will be an exception. You said you will reach and pass age 70 and God granted your wish. One thing is uncommon that you and your husband should die the same day, I appeal to Baba Titi to brace up and be strong at this time for the children.

There is no word suitable enough to describe your sincere and genuine love for people around you (blood and non blood related), the less privilege, little children, ministers of God and work of God. Your zero tolerance for hypocrisy, falsehood and dishonest earned you much respect in the society, neighborhood and among your associates.
No doubt we are already missing you, those good virtues and everything about you. With an assurance that is precious in the eyes of the Lord, we commend you (your soul) into the hand of your creator, who is able to keep you until His glorious appearance.
Grandma as we fondly called you, good night till that glorious morning when we shall meet to part no more..

Mummy your death came to me as a shock, I saw you 2 weeks before your departure, you were looking healthy, you held my hands and prayed for me from the heart that I will forever cherish.
From the moment your daughter introduced me to you as a minister in charge of her church you took me as a son and got personally interested in my wellbeing You always call me “omo mi”(my child) I later got a better understanding when I came for daddy’s 80th birthday and the ministers refer to you as mama Alufa. I can never forget your prayers every time I call to say hello and the regular supply of food items.
You are a proverbs 31 woman, your house was a home for everyone, you are selfless, generous, compassionate and above all a mother anyone will choose to have. You believe so much in the efficacy of prayer and I thank God that we were able to celebrate you while alive at your 80th birthday last year and also for keeping you till this age though you always say the terminal age is 120yrs but God knows best.
I know you are resting in the bosom of the Lord, till that glorious morning when we shall meet to part no more. Goodbye iya rere, mama oninure, mama Alaanu, mama Alufa

Late Mrs Olukemi Regina Akomolafe will surely miss by all,but l will miss her most.she is a sister(though step),but over years, she became much more than a sister, she was a friend,a confidant,an adviser and a supporter.lndeed, her generosity disposition to me beyond description, she and her husband were simply exceptional.
In spite a wide space between her and myself in terms of her educational exposure, she never dispited me and always communicate with me as best as she could. Her home was an haven to me at all times, the door was never shut against me.
She lived a glorious life in Christ, even in the face of the challenges, she stood her ground in God,her faith never wavered.
I will forever be grateful that our paths crossed and even in death,am not ashamed to call you my dear sister.
Till will meet and path no more.Sunre oo!!!!!!!

Her Life

BIOGRAPHY

October 4, 2019
BIRTH AND PARENTAGE

Mrs. Regina Olukemi Akomolafe was born on the 12th of Oct., 1938 in Ikere Ekiti. She was a precious Jewel in her nuclear family. Her father was late Pa. Michael Egbedi Akomolafe of Ibariba compound in Oke – ‘kere, where present Prof. Olufemi; the latest Sapetu of Ikere hails from. Pa Akomolafe Egbedi was one of the richest cocoa farmers during his life time, his wife and Regina’s mother was a princess of Agrilala the first; the then Oba Ogoga of Ikere Ekiti. She was a successful bean cake industry woman, politician, and the woman leader of her party during her life time. Both of them were Christians and members of St. Peter’s Anglican Church Oke – ‘kere, Ikere Ekiti.

EDUCATION

Mrs. Regina Olukemi Akomolafe had her primary school education at the then famous St. Luke’s Anglican Primary School, Odo – Oja, Ikere Ekiti. From there, she attended Anglican Girls’ Modern School, Ado Ekiti, and from there on completion of the course, she was admitted to St. Helen’s Anglican Grade 3 Teacher’s Training College, Ondo, from Jan. 1957 – Dec. 1958. On graduation from there, she was posted to Agbado Ekitias the first Trained Anglican Teacher in that Area. She also taught at Igbara – Odo Ang. School and St. John’s Ang. She attended Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife for the Teacher’s Associative Grade 1 Certificate in the Faculty of Education in the 1973/74 Session.

MARRITAL LIFE

Mrs. Regina Mafolayomi Akomolafe was married to Dr. Gabriel Olusola Akomolafe on December 26, 1963, after six years of courtship. Succeeding events of their married life proved that the marriage was Designed and Blessed from heaven. They both had uncommon understanding and respect between them. They were both born to the Anglican Religion and both became actively practicing Christians to the end. Mafolayomi was a befitting compliment to Olusola in many ways. Their home was the home of everyone who cared to come. Mafoalyomi loved and cherished her husband most sincerely. They were both intimate confidant of each other. They are blessed with Christian based children who have been successful in all their diverse areas of calling. She was a wonderful mother to her children and a great wife to the husband.

It is with gratitude to God that she witnessed six of her grandchildren graduated from different Universities (home and abroad) few months before her death. This was a befitting parting gift from these grandchildren to their very much loved grandmother.

WORK EXPERIENCE

From January 1964 to December 2003, she taught as a Grade II and I trained teacher in various schools in the former Oranmiyan Local Government and Ife Central and East Local Government. She served as Classroom Teacher, Grade I Headmaster. For three years, she was English and Yoruba Tutor in St. John’s Grammar Catholic Grammar Scool, Oke – Atan, Ile Ife.

She worked very diligently in all the schools where she worked. In many of the schools where she taught, she constructed surrounding fences, built latrines, e.t.c. She earned a state award as a distinguished and hardworking Grade I Headmistress (2002). Everywhere she worked; she was liked and appreciated by both teachers and students. She retired honourably in 1993.

RELIGIOUS LIFE

Mrs. Regina Akomolafe was a life Member of the church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) throughout her lifetime. She had served in several capacities as member of the church Choir, Girl’s brigade leader, and active member of the Young Women Christian Association of St. Matthew’s Anglican Church, Ile Ife. For three years, she was the Chairperson of the then St. Mark’s Anglican Primary School Council. She was a strong believer in the efficacy of prayer and was therefore deeply involved in the prayer weekly activities of the church during her active years.

SOCIAL LIFE

Mrs. Olukemi Akomolafe was a gentle and amiable woman, loved and cherished wherever she lived. She was a high level jovial mixer among the young and old. She had many social daughters around her. She loved children and they trouped to her house wherever she lived. She was a founder member and Secretary of the then Ori – Olokun Sister’s Club.

She was a rallying point in her family and a husband’s family. She always found it easy to turn her homely medical Doctors to family members by the way she trusted and respected them. They in return gave her special respect among their patients. Here in particular, we talk of Baba Ayanbeku for many years and Doctor Rufai in latter years.

Finally mummy, we will all continue to miss you, but we are consoled by the fact that you are resting peacefully and happily at the bosom of God your creator.

Mummy campus

July 23, 2019
Hello mummy campus . My amazing grandma and one of the most amazing women who trained me during my formation years .

i still can’t believe you are gone mummy campus . I had so many fond memories of you at ife andespecially at eleyele. Going to visit mummy campus after church was one of those treats we only get when we have been good all week and one we look forward to so fervently . I remember your pounded yam and white rice with stew . I remember quite vividly how you would make me sit on the stool (apoti) towards the freezer as you supervised the pounded yam . I remember how you always say to my mum “Moni bring this children so that Gbegus and AO can teach them some maths and English”.

I remember how strict you were with my father insisting he had to buy us school books...
. **tears are welling up in my eyes **

you really were a pillar of support during those years...
I remember how you stored the ‘minerals’ in your room and brought them out to entertain us on Sundays.
i remember seeing your beautiful smile at my wedding in 2014 . You reminded me of momo susannah . Those beautiful set of teeth and radiant smile were imbued in your lineage .

you were the only grandma I grew up with . Firm , supportive and always full of optimism and words of wisdom. I miss you grandma, mummy campus. Mi for mummy ( as my mum fondly calls you)
you really were the titian of your generation.
Say hello to momoh susannah &  baba adebiyi.

Your legacy will always live on

love always

I fondly remember Mama Komolafe's motherly disposition, correcting our juvenile attitudes with an unending smile for everyone.
She saw a great future in us, as her Students at St. John's Grammar School, Oke Atan, Ile -Ife, and promised " the sky is not your limit" if you work very hard.
Mama encouraged us to dress neat and handle our books with care. She cares and saw to it that we are disciplined in our conduct.
May her soul rest in peace!!
