SOJ welcomed me into TOTAL family in 1980.
The office was at 32 Marina Royal Exchange Building CMS round about. We developed love for each other. SOJ has a good heart. A bridge builder across tribe and ethnicity. 100% detribalized.
He invited me to relocate to his house in aguda and save money from my hotel bills.
This gesture can only come from a unique mind.
Not sure he even discussed it with Iyaa Tolu, the name he called his lovely wife.
Getting to his house SOJ introduced me to Iyaa Tolu who quickly prepared dinner. I was integrated. I felt at home. A little BQ they had then but we enjoyed it happily. The main building was not yet developed. When it rained every where was flooded. One day as we returned from work we fell into the flood. The Planck serving as temporary bridge had lost its centre of gravity.
I rode in his car to Offce and back.
A Peugeot 504 LA 572.
After work we would go searching for my permanent accommodation.
Weeks later we got one at 47 Agboyin Avenue Surulere.
Iyaa Tolu and SOJ helped me move into my house. Three of us shopped and furnished the home. As a bachelor I was visiting thier home to have good meal every week end.
As I got married the family relationship grew even stronger.
My wife was welcomed to Lagos by Iyaa Tolu exactly the same way SOJ welcomed me into Lagos.
Then both families got separated by job posting but distance wasn’t a barrier. At my wedding in 1984 SOJ led a Lagos team of over 50 staff to attend. I wedded Enugu in the East.
In the mid eighties Iyaa Tolu was transferred to Port harCourt. At this time I had a young family. It was time to welcome her to the East. My family was in Owerri.
Every weekend my family was in Portharcourt. The next Iyaa Tolu was in Owerri.
When my wife had our third child and second daughter Iyaa Tolu practically took delivery of the baby.
As the children grew the two families got bonded the more and more. SOJ was at this time in Benin as Branch Manager.
The families spent thier vacations together in Owerri and Benin in alternate manner for years.
It was love love love. Joy joy joy.
I am giving an account of a friendship that has lasted for 41years.
Today my friend of 41years was laid to rest. I have lost a dependable, reliable and trustworthy friend.
The family bond remains.
May his soul Rest In Peace. May his memory be a blessing.

To my Uncle,
I thank God for your life and all of the souls you were able to touch. Whenever I was around you I felt such a peacefulness and calm. I know your legacy will live on through all that were blessed to have you as a part of their lives.

May God continue to look after and give strength to Auntie Sade and family during this time of loss.

My Dear Bro Olu,
You were definitely one of a kind. I so admired your kind, quiet and loving spirit. I remember telling my pastor, that I felt God's presence when you were around. I also recognized how much knowledge you had when we would talk, but you never displayed it in a boastful or bragging manner. I will always remember our discussions at the kitchen table.
You have left behind 4 loving children, of which I see that same loving spirit. Your purpose on this earth has been fulfilled.
There are no words at this time that can lessen the pain of your passing, but the only solace we have is that you are now resting with our Lord.
Rest on my brother, we all love you, but God loves you most.
Please bid my loving husband and your beautiful mom hello.
Your Sister in Christ and Sister IN Law.
Love to you all

Our dear uncle Remi John I was speaking to Tolu after your demise and told him, that I remember as a young girl, when you would visit our home in UCH with Aunty Sade who was your girlfriend at the school of Nursing at the time. You were such a fun loving uncle and very generous. We always enjoyed your visits and as children looked forward to you visiting us again. We thank God for a life well lived and the legacy you have left behind. On account of you moving on to glory, may your family be blessed and may your gentle soul rest in perfect peace.

Daddy, I was really sad to hear of your passing and more so because I didn’t get the chance to engage with you as much as I would have liked to lately.
You were one of a kind, took me in as one of your own and was ever ready to guide and advise me. You were a role model and the kind of father I aspire to be, selfless and very caring.
We all draw comfort from the fact that you are in a better place and will forever treasure all the memories we shared in our hearts.
I pray that God’s perpetual light will continue to shine on you, and that He continues to comfort your family.
Rest In Peace daddy, till we meet again

To the greatest man, I have ever known.
Daddy was my rock, mentor, confidant, gist partner, father and friend

He was a provider for his family and many around him
He was a gentle soul, content, generous human being. People like him come around once in a lifetime.

Daddy taught me a lot about life, financial literacy, work ethics and integrity. He had a subtle way of impacting wisdom.

Daddy took an interest in using everyday life experiences to teach and redirect me. I wrote several letters to him in boarding school, usually asking for provisions for visiting day. Daddy would send a reply along with my letter which now had spelling and grammar corrections.

Another time growing up, inspired by the popular Bassey and company show, I made up a slogan " B for Babatunde, B for Brains". I showed Daddy and he responded that he was B for Brains and that the slogan should be B for Baba and B for Brains. we called Daddy B for Brains for years. Last year, 2020, he started calling me Baba inspite of my protests, he just said ‘Don’t worry you are Baba’.

I will cherish all the moments we spent together- the jokes, the gist, the banter, your wise words.

I love you beyond words and tears can express. I miss you so much and I pray time will heal the pain I feel by your absence.

You will forever be in our hearts.

Baba, Daddy, B for Brains, my hero... sun re

To dad

All Glory to God for a life of humility, responsibility and benevolence. It was a very challenging time 36 years ago when I lost my dad and your best friend but you took up the mantle to care for me and ensure proper upbringing for a kid that barely knew left from right. It’s really sad having this happen but God knows best . Thank you for being there.

TRIBUTE TO MY SENIOR AND FRIEND ENGR OLUREMI S. JOHN.

Those we love and adore don't go away, they walk beside us every day, unseen and unheard. Still like a dream that you have left us. I have just been thinking about the memories of you. Your expression of deep love and care, your words of wisdom, and your generosity to mention a few.

Engineer Remi John as fondly called in his executive days in Total Nig Plc. The prefix REMI differentiate him from other John's in the system at that time.
A thoroughbred professional. I as a new staff met him at the Head Office as Sales Engineer overseeing all branches nationwide with core job of selling LubOils.

He was unassuming, humble, diligent, completely clothed in simplicity with high ethical standards and adorned with fear of God
I believe he had contributed his quota, though we would have loved him to live longer so to tap from his wealth of experiences. I have the assurance that he is resting on the supple breast of his maker.

He left no burden on our Nation Nigeria because he was a mechanical engineer, but left behind four wonderful kids, all engineers in their various fields of employment.

The sun has now set on our friendship of 37years.May the Lord grant his beloved adorable wife Capt Folasade Remi-John rtd and the children the grace to bear the irreparable loss and receive Engineer Remi-John into his bosom until the resurrection day when we shall meet to part no more. Adieu, my senior and friend.

A Tribute to My big brother, Samuel Oluremi John

To me, he was “Brother” as our parents trained us to call their oldest child from when we were little. He not only lived up to the expectations of mom and dad, but exceeded them in his interactions with all the other siblings, family, co-workers, and friends.

“Brother” had an unassuming quiet demeanor with a mind of steel. He was a man of very few words, but very impactful. His wisdom and his ability to quote the Bible were bar none. For those of you that knew him very well would attest to that.

He was a great competitor as was evidenced in his high school year at CMS Grammar School as top scorer and captain of the first Zard Cup Champions for the school. He was also a celebrated high jumper in his high school days.

I learned at an early age from “brother” that you put your best foot forward with every task you perform. He was an epitome of near perfection in most of his undertakings.

He will be remembered as a great man, co-worker, friend, brother, and family man.
We will always miss you and while resting in the bosom of the Lord, may your soul Rest in Perfect Peace. Adios “Brother”.

We can’t tell you how much the family has appreciated all the calls and messages we have received in the past few weeks. Your overwhelming support is greatly appreciated.

Your “Brother”,

Dr. Emilio Adeniyi John
