Words cannot express how difficult it is for us to come to terms with your departure, we will miss your smile and optimism, you have left a massive void in our lives that we cannot replace. You will be remembered forever for all the lives that you have touched, your generosity and for the amazing woman, mother, friend, sister and auntie that you truly are.  We love you so much and you legacy will live on, may your beautiful soul rest in peace.

Its exactly a month that you left this world mum, my lovely Mom, the last one month, taught me lots of things. Without you, nothing is easy. I feel your absence in my life. Why did you leave us so early?
Change is constant. I wasn’t prepared for this phase of my life where I have to deal with your death. I want to be healed. I want a change, one that makes everything okay. Missing you, mummy.

Dear Mummy, it broke my heart to see you go, your legacy speaks on, a wonder woman. You gave us so much to remember.
You are an hero, your fought and you won.
God only takes the best.
You're a mother indeed. You poured out yourself for us without withholding anything.
I love you much. You're the best.
Rest on till we met again.

An angel lived among us,
A gift from God above.
She showered us with kindness
And shared with us her love.
She cherished every moment
With her children;
Walking hand in hand together,
Facing life with all its strife.
She loved her children dearly,
Each one a different way,
Nestled close within her heart.
Though, now, she’s far away.
She’s gone to live with Jesus.
But, she’s here with us each day,
Smiling down on every one of us,
And telling us she’s O.K.

Dear mummy, your departure came to me as a rude shock. It was just too soon, too sudden, too unexpected. Just a few weeks before you were with your children and grandchildren for Christmas! But God knows best. He has taken you to a much better place - your eternal home of rest. I remember you at Topes 40th birthday, so full of life, vivacious, and God-loving. You were so pleasant, inspiring and amiable and you added a sparkle to the beautiful occasion. Your children and grandchildren bear witness to the great mother and woman of God you were. All I can say now is rest in peace in the bosom of your saviour who you loved and who loves you till we meet again.

Your demise came as a rude shock to everyone! I could recall several instances when the Owolabis were just relaxed that Mama would do the needful, by nurturing the home and making sure the kiddies got the best from your untiring care! It’s sad you left when they had not been able to fully replicate the love and care you gave to them!

I believe your rewards lie in Heaven!

Rest on Mama, adieu!

The peaceful look on your face as you depart this world still amazes me, I held you in my hands as you passed, I still wish I'll wake up to realize I was dreaming. You effortlessly carried the weight of 5 kids, you paddled us through tough times ,teaching us not to allow the tough times define us, you taught me that when life knocked me down 7 times,7 times shall I get up and keep paddling, you nuttured and crafted us into wonderful ladies and amazing gentlemen, how you did that is still a mystery. I am who I am today because of you, you lived a life worthy of emulation. You're always strong, always smiling despite your health challenges which very few knew about, you carried God on your head, you became a mother to many. Memories of you will linger in my heart forever, I'll tell my unborn kids how amazing you were. I'll always love and remember you. We miss you but God has gained another saint. Till we meet to part no more.
I love you Mum.

A-Sholly-Babee as I fondly called her, was my girlfriend and mother.

It is still a rude shock that you left without saying goodbye. If we knew you were going so soon, we would have kept you with us a little longer when you visited this last festive period.

You took me in as your son when I married into this wonderful family. I was never treated like an in-law.

We discussed serious and mundane issues. We cracked jokes all the time. Always smiling. I never saw you angry.

You went through thick and thin to satisfy your family even when you were not comfortable.

Thank you for being there for us all. I am happy to have known you. I am consoled knowing you are in a better place smiling down on us all.

Mummy, you have fought a good fight and we believe you are enjoying your reward already.

To my brothers and sisters, we are not defeated!!! We summon courage and will continue to be children she will always be proud of.

Rest on in the Lord, Grandma Abeokuta (as the children call you).

Mummy lives on in our hearts forever.

Dear Mumsy, when I first met you in Abeokuta, I was nervous about so many things, but you greeted me with a beautiful smile and a wonderful hug and my worries disappeared. You held my hand and introduced me to everyone we met as your daughter, with a knowing smile. I saw how hugely respected you are in your community and I was humbled. Your kindness and humour transcends boundaries. We found our own way of having a good giggle together. I regret that I only met you a couple of times, yet I am thankful for the times we spent together. You gave me a Yoruba name, Ajoke. Your Ajoke is heartbroken and cannot believe you are gone. You are forever in the hearts of so many. Your generosity and kindness leaves an overwhelming legacy. Dearest Mumsy, may you rest in peace. My heartfelt condolences to Abbey, Tope, Ayo, Fish, Bukky, your siblings and all of their families.

In the words of an unknown poet:

God saw you getting tired
And a cure was not to be
So he put His arms around you
And whispered "Come to me."

With tearful eyes we watched you
As you slowly slipped away
And though we loved you dearly
We couldn't make you stay.

Your golden heart stopped beating
Your tired hands put to rest
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes the best.

Mamma
You gave life to me
Turned a baby into a lady
And, mamma
All you had to offer
Was the promise of a lifetime of love
Now I know
There is no other
Love like a mother's love for her child
And I know
A love so complete
Someday must leave
Must say, "goodbye"
Goodbye's the saddest word I'll ever hear
Goodbye's the last time I will hold you near
Someday you'll say that word, and I will cry
It'll break my heart to hear you say, "goodbye"
Mamma
You gave love to me
Turned a young one into a woman
And, mamma
All I ever needed
Was a guarantee of you loving me
'Cause I know
There is no other
Love like a mother's love for her child
And it hurts so
That something so strong
Someday will be gone, must say "goodbye"
Goodbye's the saddest word I'll ever hear
Goodbye's the last time I will hold you near
Someday you'll say that word, and I will cry
It'll break my heart to hear you say, "goodbye"
But the love you gave will always live
You'll always be there every time I fall
You are to me the greatest love of all
You take my weakness, and you make me strong
And I will always love you till forever comes
And when you need me
I'll be there for you, always
I'll be there, your whole life through
I'll be there, this I promise you, mamma
I'll be your beacon through the darkest nights
I'll be the wings that guide your broken flight
I'll be your shelter through the raging storm
And I will love you till forever comes
Goodbye's the saddest word I'll ever hear
Goodbye's the last time I will hold you near
Someday you'll say that word, and I will cry
It'll break my heart to hear you say, "goodbye"
Till we meet again
Until then
Goodbye
