A Brief Biography

Mrs Olusola Abosede Faneyi, nee Ademuyiwa, popularly known as Mummy Matron, was born on the 13th May, 1954 in Eleyele Ibadan in Oyo State. She was the first daughter and the second child of the late Pa Meshinoye Ademuyiwa and the late Mrs Beatrice Folasade Ademuyiwa, nee Sobo.

She started her academic journey at Ebenezer African Church Primary School, Salvation Army Road, Ekotedo from 1960 to 1964. She then studied at Holy Trinity Secondary School, Ibadan from 1965 to 1970. She proceeded to Sacred Heart Hospital, Abeokuta, where she trained in Midwifery and Nursing Profession from 1971 to 1973. She graduated as a registered Nurse and joined the old Western Government Hospital Management Board as a nursing Sister in 1974.

She married Mr. Bright Akinloye Faneyi in 1977, the marriage was blessed with 5 wonderful children.

She started her nursing career at the Federal Medical Center and was later transferred to General Hospital Ijaiye in Abeokuta.

She rose in nursing ranks during her service years with the Ogun State Hospital Management Board and was promoted through the ranks of Matron, Senior Matron and Chief Matron. During her career she was the Chief Matron at several General Hospitals including General Hospital Ipokia, General Hospital Asero, Abeokuta and General Hospital Odeda. She was promoted to the position of Chief Nursing Officer in 2007, the highest rank in the nursing profession. She held this position until she retired from service in 2009, having served for 35 years.

She was a staunch believer in Christ and an active member of the Chapel of Reconciliation, Abeokuta. Her generosity, kindness, patience, compassion, and selflessness were legendary to all who met her. In recognition of her selfless and devoted service to the House of God, she was ordained a Deaconess and served in several committees at the church. She provided medical services for free to many members of the church and her local community.

She lived an exemplary life and lived in peace with everyone around her.

We thank God for a life well spent, we will miss you greatly but we are comforted that you are safe in the arms of Jesus.

Sleep on faithful servant, beloved mother, sister, grandmother, friend and ‘Mummy Matron’ till we meet again at the triumphant trumpet call.

She is survived by 5 children and many grandchildren.
