This woman is a substance. A substance, not a shadow. She is an evidence. An evidence of a godly woman. She evinced good morals of what womanhood should be. She showed a model of what motherhood exemplify. I know her on campus, at ASUU meetings, Senate meetings and other fora that bring us together and the aforementioned are my summary of late Dr.(Mrs) Tosin Akintan. You'll be sorely missed but God is receiving you happily home, which is better. Rest, you deserve it. Orun má kánjú gbogbo wa lanbo.

When green grass turns brown, a season ends. It was so disheartening to hear that the Department of Religious Studies, Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye,Ogun State, Nigeria has lost an Amazon, a courageous and disciplined woman. Aloha mama Akintan! Casting a retrospective view on your life and responses to my needs as one of your postgraduate students, l discovered that your fervour and love for me are unquantifiably great. Life is the greatest gift that God has given us. Death is only a bridge towards eternal life with God. My deepest condolence goes to the academic community of OOU, the immediate family and loved ones for the loss of our dearest scholar. To say goodbye to Dr (Mrs) Akintan is never easy. Pictures never carry her warmth. Memories always pierce the heart and no words can say it all! You were so special, and we will forever miss your contributions to our lives. Rest on in the bossom of your Creator dear Dr (Mrs) A.O. Akintan.

So sudden, so pathetic! When we were young, we would feign death. We did not know that it is real and inevitable. As we mature and begin to lose people close to us, we realise that it is only in Eternity we shall meet again. It is with this understanding that I painfully bid you adieu. Rest in peace ma.

The sudden death of Sis Tosin Akintan was like an electric shock which am yet to shake off. If tears could send her back to us,the drums of tears shed by thousands of mourners should have sent her back immediately before the gates of heaven were opened for her.
Then it dawned on me that we have lost a good woman of God, a true mentor, Bridge Buider and Peace Maker. A nice woman to the core. A woman of unassuming character who made friends easily because of her charisma and humility. A woman who defended the weak and the poor when the occasion demanded it and fought other people's cause when it appeared to her they were being cheated or oppressed or they could not defend themselves adequately .
It is rather unfortunate that her journey on this planet had to cut short. Her departure, much on it is a big loss to us. May her gentle soul rest in perfect peace.
To her husband, please, accept my heart felt condolence.

Dr (Mrs) Oluwatosin Adeoti Akintan was an enigma. You cannot fully describe her because she was different thing to different people. She may appear tough but very compassionate. She can stress herself on other people’s matter. She was an organiser. We shall miss you. Adieu Dr (Mrs) OLUWATOSIN A. AKINTAN.

Death like they say is inevitable. I was devastated by hearing the news of your transition to the great beyond on the early hours of Friday 18th June, 2021. It was indeed a rude shock and very unbelievable. You were a darling and kind-hearted mother to all and sundry. We played and discussed briefly during the Provincial Congress held in May at the Cathedral and it didn't occur to us to be our last time of seeing each other. Oh death, not at this time! We are consoled that you lived your life to serving God and humanity. You'll definitely and be greatly missed. May God rest your gentle soul and grant the mourners of your demise the fortitude to bear this great loss. Adieu, a super woman. Bye for now till the resurrection morning!

"Those we love never dies, they only rest".
Dr Mrs Tosin Akintan, a very loving, jovial and diligent woman of great substance. Your death is a shocking blow and indeed a dream to all of us. We saw last at the Provincial Congress in May. We played and discussed a lot not knowing you were bidding us farewell. I could remember you sent me pairs of nescafe milk. You were so active, dynamic and energetic. You were so supportive and appealing. You were never tired of reaching out to people with your resources as occasion demanded. There's never a dull moment with you. You were a strong pillar of faith and a lecturer of great repute. You were so compassionate and fervent in God's vineyard. We'll surely miss you. Our solace is that you knew and died in Christ. May God accept your dearly departed soul for eternal repose and grant us the fortitude to bear this loss. "Keep on resting dear soldier of Christ". I thought I saw her face today
In the sparkle of the morning sun.
And then I heard the angel say,
"Her work on earth is done.

I close my eyes as I wipe my tears
I just keep wishing you were still here.
I will hold all the memories deep in my heart.
Through these memories we'll never part.

I reckon I miss you

I heard the shocking news from Dr(Mrs) Olabusari yesterday about your demise. Tosin I knew you in Afribank Ijebu-Igbo as one of our customers but I personally had a relationship with you when you took me and my children in to live with you in 1993. When I did not know where and who to turn to, When I was deserted by everyone I knew, including my husband. But God sent you as an angel to comfort me and my kids.
You’re a woman of large heart, you showed me compassion as a single mother of four children. My burdens and problems becomes yours. I can never ever forget what you did. Living with you made me to know your own struggles in terms of education, settlement, marriage, giving birth etc. Your life was full of struggles but you overcame all your challenges because God was with you. Everything came to an end on Thursday June 18th, 2021 at exactly 4am. We love you but God loves you more. May Your beautiful and selfless Soul Rest In Peace. Amen

Death where is thy sting. Oh dear Aunty Tosin, you were such a lovely, caring to a vault and willing to give. I remembered when my late husband (Prof Ade Ali) was to be given commendation, how selfless you were to make sure everything were done properly. You stood by us and did your best. Whenever our paths cross with me or my kids, you always extend your hand of love. I have thought a day will come for me to repay your loving kindness unknowingly not like this. I pray the Lord of host will forever abide with your loving husband, children (Tomisin & Tumiji) and make their paths favourable in life. May the light of God accompany you on your journey. Adieu a loving and charitable aunty.

Sad to be here to write a tribune on one who was not just a colleague, but a sister, a loving and respective one at that.Tosin was indeed a nice lady, from her undergraduate days, and her attitude towards her former teachers, with whom she became a colleague when she joined the Faculty, staff member, never changed. She remained herself, a well- brought up lady.Faculty of Arts will surely miss her, and the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, surely will continue to remember that a benevolent soul passed through her portal, leaving behind an indelible footprints in the enviable sands of time

Olabisi Onabanjo University has lost a very industrious, responsible and dedicated staff. Dr. Akintan served the University with all her heart. She once served the Faculty of Arts as SubDean (Undergraduate), and she was at a time a member of the University Academic Ceremonies Committee. She served in several other Faculty and University committees. Until her passage, she was the Acting Head of the Department of Religious Study.
Dr. Akintan accepted responsibilities without complaints and carried out assignments given to her wholeheartedly. Undoubtedly, she has left her mark on the sands of time and made invaluable contribution to the development of OOU. Surely, she will be missed by her students and colleagues. Dr. Tosin Akintan, it is hard to believe that you have gone. RIP.

Aburo, your transition remains a shock to me and will remain so for the simple reason of shared moments when you were here. I know we are all mortals, but it is painful that you have to leave now. I miss you, so much as your Dept., Faculty, the University community and more importantly your immediate family do. For me, it was great to know you and I know that you would continually be on the right side of your creator. Adieu Aburo. May we all be comforted in this period of grief.

You were more than a supervisor to me

September 22, 2022
She was my project supervisor. She treated me like her own daughter. She had interest in my project topic and made sure she followed me up till the last full stop. She would sit me down in her office, turn on the AC and tell me to think and write more. The last days i spent with her were memorable and i am glad i was able to share them with her. Is it the pounded yam she fed me with or the numerous snacks. She would even share her breakfast with me I miss her sincerely and it pains me i wasn't able to appreciate her well before death took her away. Rest on Dr Mrs Akintan. You are forever loved.

You're indeed a Mentor

I remembered as a parent in OOUSS, your term as the Vice Chairman was completed and you told me Funmi "I was going to appoint you as the next Vice Chairman of PTA Executive". Alas, because of your good heart and deed among the teachers and parents you were able to pull through. Your indelible legacy will forever be seen at the Mini Campus site of OOU Staff School. You singlehandedly built the play pen. You were such a noble woman with heart of gold. So humble that you were able to bond with the young and the old. Your memory will forever be cherished. Your spirit of giving was highly commendable ma.
Aunty Tosin, a fe ko lo, it pains us that you were receiving tributes while dead. May the perpetual light of God guide you on your mortal journey. Rest on ma. May God Almighty repay your children with loving kindness. Adieu
