A Brief Biography of Dr. OGB

Oriks as commonly called was born on the 24th of August 1945. He was the third child of late Gogo Brown-West and late Finta Brown-West.

He had his primary education at St. Michael's school, Buguma and attended Salvation Army Secondary School at Akai-Eket, now Akai Ubiom. He also attended Yaba College of Technology Lagos, where he obtained his OND and HND. He worked with Shell(SPDC), Port Harcourt where he worked efficiently as an Engineer. He left Shell for the United State in January 1977 where he obtained two Masters degree (MS/MBA) from Polytechnic University of NYC. He is a registered professional engineer with memberships in several professional organizations. He obtained a doctorate degree in the University of Connecticut, in 1981. He had several publications, he published extensively in refeered and non-refeered journals. His books; from dream to reality, sealing the construction planninghurdles of a mega project and many others. He ventured into politics and became the commissioner and chairman of the board of public works, Marshfield, Massachusetts. He worked on projects like the Boston Central Artery Tunnel (The Big Dig), and has also worked in strategic, capital and long-range planning and facilities management at Universities throughout the United States. He began his teaching career as an assistant professor in 1984, and turned a professor in 1986.

Prof. Orikaye Gogo Brown-West was a devoted Christian who loved the things of the God, and always loved to speak the scriptures. He always acknowledged that wherever he was or whatever position he held was planned by God Almighty. He Worshipped in the Anglican Church in Nigeria and Worshipped with Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministries (MFN) in USA.

Prof. O.G. Bronw-west had a very full active social life, he was highly sociable and loved his culture. He was a noticeable leader of the Kalabari group in the United States; he was the chairman of the Election Committee of IJAW foundation, chairman of Buguma foundation, and a member of Abonema foundation in USA.

Prof. Orikaye G. Brown-West is survived by 7 children, 3 grandchildren, brothers & sisters, cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws, friends, and well wishers.
