His Life
December 21, 2016

Deacon Oscar Hines was born May 24, 1941 in Coweta County, Georgia to the late L.D. and Cora Hines.  He departed this life at his home on December 9, 2016.

Oscar grew up in Grantville, Georgia where he attended Coweta County Schools. While attending high school, he worked part time as a pressman in a printing shop.

As a young man, Oscar was a member in a band where he played bass guitar. This is when he met the love of his life and were united in holy matrimony.

Oscar joined Greater Jehovah Baptist Church at an early age, where he was a devoted and faithful member while serving on the deacon board.

After 44 years of dedicated service, he retired from Clayton News Daily where he worked as a cameramen developing pictures for the newspaper.

Oscar was a peaceful, patient, kind, faithful family man who loved sharing, caring and doing for others.

He loved listening to gospel music, gardening, photography, carpentry and fixing things. He was a true “handyman”, if he could not fix it, it could not be fixed.  He was a “jack of all trades”.

Oscar is preceded in death by his twin brother Arthur Hines and his youngest brother Elmer Hines.
