Deacon Oscar Depriest Ivey was born February 29, 1944 in Bread Tray Hill, AL to the late Henry T. Ivey, Sr. and the late Delphine Martin Ivey.

He confessed Christ as his Lord and Saviour and united with the Old Sardis Baptist Church. Depriest served faithfully on the Deacon Board until his health failed.

On July 4, 2012, God called an angel home to eternal rest.

He was preceded in death by his parents Henry T. Ivey, Sr. and Delphine Martin Ivey and loving nephews Howard Ivey, Jr., Derrick L. Ivey, Sr. and Thomas T. Ivey.

He was united in holy matrimony to Mable Ruth McClaney and he leaves to cherish his memories: a loving wife, Mable Ivey, Union Springs, AL; a son, Depriest Ivey, Jr. (Harriet), Margate, FL; two daughters: Stephanie T. Ivey, Union Springs, AL; and Baretta D. Ivey, Montgomery, AL; a loving God-daughter, Mary A. Anderson, Selma, AL; six grandchildren: Depriest Ivey, III, Ft. Myers, FL; Brittany Daniels, Okinawa, Japan; Tavon Ivey, DeLand, FL; Yannique Ivey, Margate, FL; Kamilah Ivey, Margate, FL; Kevin Da’Shun Keith, Union Springs, AL; a loving sister, Shelvia Ross (Solomon) Montgomery, AL; three brothers: Henry T. Ivey, Jr. (Betty), Union Springs, AL; Howard Ivey, Sr. (Mary), Union Springs, AL; Bishop Ivey, Sr. (Esther), Union Springs, AL; two uncles: Clyde Martin, Sr. (Rosie Lee), Cypress, TX; Omie Crockett, Sr., Ensley, AL; four sisters-in-law, four brothers-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
