A native of Lumpkin, GA., Mr. Walton was the son of the late Andrew Ridley and Naomi Slaughter Walton.

He resided in New York City for many years, retiring as an City Accountant after over twenty years of services. Returning to college, Mr. Walton received his Bachelors of Arts Degree from New Rochelle College in New York at the age of 54. Later, he received his Master's Degree in Divinity. 

He was a former member and Deacon at Zion Branch Baptist Church in Whatley, AL., and currently a member of Lewis Memorial Baptist Church in Columbus. Mr. Walton was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mary H. Walton; three daughters, Jeanette Walton-Hill, Marquita Walton and Leah Walton-Williams; a devoted friend and former wife, Mrs. Janie T. Walton; several grand and great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
