I first met him (Otis) at church in Orland, years before he came to live at Tehama Commons.  He was accompanied by a friend who helped him navigate the stairs, aisles, and parishioners Sunday after Sunday.  His cane betrayed his blindness but not once do I recall him expressing anything one could call bitterness. He was a gentle soul who accepted with grace the challenges blindness posed for him. He spoke with me many times of his passion for reaching out to his community and the broader world using his considerable HAM radio skills. His voice is no doubt already being missed by friends made and kept over the years near and far.
