Otis Harvey Manchester III 63, a former resident of Dorsey Road, passed away Wednesday, April 6th at Universal Healthcare in Oxford.
 
A native of St. Louis, MO. the son of the late Otis Harvey Manchester Jr. and Laura Heitkamp Manchester. He was a graduate of Chamanade High School, attended the University of Dayton OH and Seminary in Wisconsin.
He joined the US Navy during the Vietnam era, served seven years, trained as electronic technician and nuclear technician . He served “in country” Viet Nam as liaison for US and Vietnamese military. He worked for 32 years for IBM (1973-2005) in San Jose, CA Tucson, AZ, Austin TX and RTP in NC. He belonged to Rotary, Intl. for 20 years, and held offices in groups from Cedar Park, TX, North Raleigh, NC and Oxford, NC. He enjoyed woodworking, wine collecting and sailing.
 
He is survived by his wife, Eleanor Davis Manchester of the home, daughters, Laura Manchester of Cincinnati , OH , Tamie McGiveron Simmons (Jason) of Raleigh, a son, Scot McGiveron (Tom Dow) of Denver, CO, a brother, John Manchester (Therese) of Hartland, MI, three sisters, Anne Sutemeier (Bob) of Atlanta, GA, Amanda Lothman (Carl) of St. Louis ,MO , Joan Donnelly (Jack) of Chicago, IL., numerous nieces and nephews.
 
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Monday, April 11, 2011 in the Eakes Funeral Chapel in Oxford by Father Jamie Pahl.
