A TRIBUTE TO LATE MR. SHADRACH ASHU
FROM: THE EBENEZER BAPTIST CHURCH, LIMBE, ENGLISH CHOIR

Late Mr Shadrach Ashu and family joined the EBENEZER BAPTIST CHURCH LIMBE, during his tenure as a teacher in the then GSS Limbe.
He quickly became the Choir Director in the English Choir of the church.
Calm and disciplined, he patiently took the choir to a formidable force which went places. He was of the ilk and calibre of mentors like late Mr PEN Malafa and Mr George Haddison.
The English Choir in those days specialised in singing psalms, canticles, anthems as well as hymns.
He was so much loved and was missed greatly when he was transferred to GSS Bangem.
As a show of love, the English Choir accompanied him to his new station and performed at his installation.
He will be sorely missed, but we are comforted in that he has joined the Saints marching in to glory and singing in the heavenly choir, making music such as never heard before.
May his gentle soul rest in peace

Papa,
I remember the last time I came to the house, you said, "My daughter, I have not seen you in a long time". Little did I know that would be the last time I would see you. This is so unreal to me. I remember the gentle smile you put on and how welcoming you always were. I'll miss that Papa and you will be missed dearly.
May your gentle and kind soul rest well papa.

Dearest School Daddy,
Can’t believe I’m writing this in memory of you. I can never forget or ever appreciate enough all what you’ve taught me for the 19 years I’ve been with you, talk less of the immense love you showed to my family and me. My success story can never be written completely without you being my solid foundation. I’ll miss your laughs, hugs, the life lessons you shared with me, the sweet treats you always gave me each time I went to see you. I’ll carry you with me always, everywhere. It will be the greatest honor of my life to spend everyday trying to live up to your legacy. If tears could bring you back, I’ll cry you a river. Rest in the Blossom of the Lord School Daddy till we meet again. I LOVE YOU.

Eulogy of Pa Shadrack Ashu

Pa Ashu was a devoted member of the English Choir of Ebenezer Baptist Church Great Soppo Buea.
He was the oldest member of the choir. He joint the choir in 1972 and took over from Pa Haddison as choir director in the 70's. He was a tenor singer but change to bass as he advanced in age.
He was the choir's president in the 90's.
Pa Ashu was an enthusiastic chorister who took the choir as his second family.
Even though he was the eldest member, he was very respectful and selfless. He was humorous and made the choir very lifely.
He had a percular style of conducting (with his pen).
We very much miss Pa Ashu in the choir.
I know you are singing with the heavenly choir with the Angles.

REST IN PEASE PA ASHU
Odilia Wemnje
President of the choir for the choir.

Uncle, you are gone, but you will
never be forgotten. Your demise has left a void as you were the pillar of the family. You were my mother’s best friend. She always tells us, how she loves you as her brother and we the children always see you standing beside her in whatever she does. I can see how you both love each other even in death. I know all of you are rejoicing with the Lord. You passed away because your body had served its purpose but your spirit and memory is still alive. Thank you for always being there for our late mother until she left this world. Thank you for picking me at the Airport on my first arrival to Cameroon after leaving in Ireland for 7 years. I will never forget that smile on your face at the airport. Thank you for being there for everyone. You are a super hero.
Rest in peace uncle.

Dear Papa,
I met you through your granddaughter Theola and from our first meeting you were very welcoming. You knew how to start a great conservation and you were very particular about our welfare. Thank you so much Papa for the love you showed me as a person in this very short time and thank you also for your care. You are not just "my friend's grandfather" but mine too. I love you Papa. I wish you could have been here longer but our creator knows best. To the world you're gone, but to us who love and know you, you continue to live in our hearts. May your kind soul rest in perfect peace.

Whenever you saw me, you’d say see small Gwenette she’s now a big woman. You’d ask me about school, ask about my family. We’d always talk of old memories in my primary school days and laugh. You’d always make sure I eat nice things( groundnuts, chin chin, pamplemouse, Malta etc), never a day I went visiting and you didn’t give me nice things you always made sure I was comfortable. Your walking steps, your voice, your laughter keeps replaying in my head.

The Transition of A MAN

March 11, 2023
Your wife called you SN, I called you papa. From my early years in elementary school to today, you groomed me to be a real Christian, one whose life reflected that of  a house built on a hill; you taught me the values of being a man; being humbled and  steadfast in your undertakings despite all the upheavals in life. When I notified you of being enrolled in a doctoral program , you encouraged me and reminded me of my Christian values that corelated with academic achievements. Thank you for being a REAL MAN!!  There are few out there!
Many were groomed in your home but none was privileged to be groomed for more than ten years. Thank you for the opportunity to grow under your tutelage for over 40 years.
As you transition, we are reminded of the relevance of resolving conflicts timely and being peace loving. As you transition, say hell to mama. She will be excited to receive her SN!
